I bought a Angieslist Deal but it was not the kind of work that MRJ provides.
Description of Work: Work was not performed. My very small job was not something they do. They were very polite and gave me information that helped me in finding the right contractor for the job I had.

Paul is great, he was on site all the time during the basement work, he actually did the work! he is very professional and friendly. They had to raise some beams in the basement, create support with cement and add pillars. The job was done in several days. The problem was that the weather was against us and it had to be delayed few times. The reason why I am not giving A in all categories is because I felt that he could have handle the rescheduling process a bit better, there were some days when I was not sure if he was going to come or not and it made me cancel appointments and classes unnecessarily . The work was done and the wall that needed to be repaired came out great! I would totally use their services in the future.
Description of Work: I had to get pillars installed in my basement, and get a wall repaired. I don't remember exactly when the work was done but it was during the winter months.

They are very good. They are very competent and they responded quickly.
Description of Work: MRJ Builders gave us an estimate for a renovation in the house like changing walls and things like that.
MRJ Builders has done a lot of work on my house in the past and everything has gone really well. They did a great job. I think the price was fair. I was in a jam with the leaking window and he got everything done quickly and before it started getting cold.
Description of Work: He installed new windows and also fixed my dormer. He also put in a fan for me, to vent out my attic. He also put in a new fascia board and gutter.

I see this vendor replies to Angie's reviews, so I hope he can allay my concerns regarding representations here as to approriate NJ license and NJ business registration. I would like to consider this deal. When I put the cited license number or the name Paul Jaworski or MRJ Builders at newjersey.mylicense.com/verification, all three yield no results. I went to the state Division of Taxation website to ensure the company is registered and pays its appropriate share of state taxes www.njportal.com/DOR/businessrecords/EntityDocs/BusinessStatCopies.aspx . Again, I find neither the person or the business there, although there is a person with the same name with an unrelated travel business in Montvale. The state home-improvement contractor license ensures a vendor has liability insurance for himself and his employees while working at your home, which is important so any injury claims do not result in a claim on the homeownerr's insurance or a lien on the property. That's why I hope angieslist will approve this as a review, because I think this is a reasonable question that the vendor should be able to satisfactorily anwer so everyone can have that full and accurate information while the deal is being advertised. Thank you.

When I first found Paul through Angies list I found him to be calm ,reassuring, and pleasant. We were a team from the beginning to end . We discussed every little detail and he built it accordingly. There was mutual respect and trust ,which is crucial in any business. Even when i wanted it changed after we agreed he would go along. Even after sandy he made time ,when he is busy ,by working nights and weekends. He is a hard worker who loves his job. I call him the God father for my building. he really made it happen. I am very pleased with his work. I know I am going to hire him again and I strongly recommend him for any one.
Description of Work: Paul changed a warehouse into a a beautiful magnificent Physician,s office. He did carpentry, painting, bathroom he also found subcontractors at a reasonable price. This warehouse didn't have electricity ,sewage, gas electricity it only had the outside shell and the roof with skeleton inside. It required a lot of work a lot of subcontractors.

Things went generally well. The quality of work was better than expected in all facets of the project. After the project was completed (mind you it took almost eight months) there were a few minor issues that were addressed promptly. One problem that was not fixed was a drainage problem with the roof. Water was flowing from the roof down behind the gutter, not into the gutter. I asked the owner, Paul Jaworski to look at it, which he did promptly. He said he didn't see anything that would make this happen and that he would have his roof company look at it. They never showed up. Paul then came by for a second look and still could find no reason this would happen. He said I should get a hold of the architect who drew up the plans. (at this point I was getting annoyed) I took it upon myself to call "My Roof and Gutter Man" a company I had used in the past to have a look. Tommy Kelly, the owner of My Roof and gutter man climbed up on the roof and just shook his head. The tar between the roof and gutter had cracked. By now, water had started to leak into my new bathroom. I told Paul I had taken the liberty of asking somebody else to look at the problem and told me he needed a detailed explanation in writing in that Mr. Kelly wanted $275 dollars to fix the problem and after taking pictures (I was not about to go on the roof myself) I told him to fix the problem. Mr. Kelly said that he was totally surprised that Paul didn't see this! He said Paul did see this but wasn't telling me the extent of the problem. After seeing the pictures, I decided to have Mr. Kelly fix the roof. No leaks since. I have since tried to contact Paul of MRJ for my $275 as well as address a problem with my new back door leaking (another problem I asked on more than one occasion to be fixed) via e-mail as well as a letter delivered by FEDEX with no response. I had earlier referred him to a couple people I know for estimates on their homes in that at that time, I was overall pleased with my MRJ experience. He went to their homes for estimates but never got back to either of them with quotes. In light of all this, I ask that Angies' List place MRJ Builders in the penalty box. My warranty has expired but my initial attempts to contact Paul were done while the warranty was good.

Was given 2 days window where Paul said he'd come out to give an estimate and he never came nor called to explain
Description of Work: Called and had appointment for estimate
We had the owner of the company come out and give us an estimate. We felt comfortable with going forward with MRJ based on his confidence and portfolio. He also recommended a painter (not on Angie's list) who we used to paint the entire interior of our home and were very pleased with. MRJ and the painters coordinated their work very well to complete the project. The construction project lasted longer than initially anticipated (one and a half months as opposed to the one month quote we were given). There were a few instances where we were not satisfied with the work product but MRJ worked swiftly to correct, no questions asked. We found them to be very responsive and honest.

The service was fine. They showed up on time and gave an estimate that was competitive with other estimates that I received.
Description of Work: They an estimate for a new front door.
The work was all accomplished on schedule, or as close as you ever get to the original completion date, just as requested, and of superior quality. He recommended a new countertop and sink during the work, and took the time to bring us in his van to select, and truck the parts back at no extra charge! In addition, he lined up the upper cabinet doors, helped us with a kitchen cart we had almost assembled and carted away a bulk item left by the previous home owner, at no significant change to the original estimate. There was a week's delay because we found out, in process, that the main water valves for the condo building had to be shut off, but the contractor took it in stride. We highly recommend MRJ Builders, Inc.
Description of Work: The contractor was asked to replace bottom cabinets in the kitchen , replace sink valves, repair some bathroom tiles and track a closet door.

Paul and his team are consummate professionals. They perform quality work and made sure flooring and carpets were protected before starting work each day. At the conclusion of the day they cleaned and vacuumed the work area. Overall I would highly recommend MRJ's services. Whether you're looking for minor interior work or the addition to your house I would not hesitate to use Paul.
Description of Work: I required two sets of windows, 6 in the living room and 3 in a bedroom replaced. The work was required to address a combination of termite and water damage. The living room work required structural work to address significant damage that had taken place over 18-yrs, including replacement of sheathing behind a hip-high brick exterior wall.
I called MRJ Builders on Monday and Paul made an appointment to meet with me that very night. He seemed personable and kept telling me that "we can definitely take care of you here." We spent close to an hour going through the job - prep work prior to another company installing french drains (temporarily capping off pipes, removing tub and toilet, breaking through subfloor in bath to allow access to exterior wall for waterproofers) and then the post work - drywall repair and painting. I also asked him to bid on replacing a front porch that was disintegrating due to water issues. We walked the property and he suggested some drain ideas which I thought would be helpful. He told me I would have a bid by Thursday. When I didn't hear from him I called him on Friday and he said he had been busy and he would hand deliver a bid to me on Saturday. I never saw him. The following week I called again and left a message on his voicemail. I asked for a bid or at least a call back that he was not interested in the job. He never bothered to respond. All he needed to do was make a call to let me know he wasn't interested instead of wasting my time.
Description of Work: No work done because bid never submitted - see below.

No work was performed. I called Paul for a price for renovations in my kitchen. He came to my home, and I told him the work I wanted done. He gave me an oral price for a kitchen project. He made notes on a piece of paper, and his price was in the ballpark. He said he was going on a week's vacation and would be able to start upon his return. I was going to hire him for the project, but learned, many years ago, to "get it in writing". I asked for him to e-mail a contract to me and he handed me the note sheet he just made. Again I asked for a formal contract. Said he'd e-mail it to me the next day (Wednesday). I asked for a written proposal regarding price, etc, and he told me that "the girl in the office" would send it to me. When I received nothing by Thursday afternoon, I called him. Said the "girl" in the office didn't send it, and he'd speak with her. When I received nothing by Saturday afternoon, I sent an e-mail to him and told him to forget the job. That was this past June. It is now March. Would you use this man? If he was this non-responsive before he had any money, I certainly couldn't expect anything afterwards. REGARDING PROVIDER RESPONSE: I DID NOT ASK PAUL (MRJ BUILDERS) FOR ANY DISCOUNT AFTER HIS FINAL OFFER TO ME. I ACCEPTED HIS PRICE. HE TOLD ME HE WAS GOING ON VACATION THE FOLLOWING WEEK, WOULD BE GONE FOR A WEEK, AND WOULD BE ABLE TO START THE PROJECT ON HIS RETURN. I SAID OK. THE JOB WAS GOING TO BE HIS. I ASKED HIM FOR A FORMAL WRITTEN (E-MAIL) CONTRACT AND EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE REQUESTS, IT WAS NEVER SENT. IF THE JOB WASN'T GOING TO BE HIS, I WOULD NOT HAVE MADE REPEATED REQUESTS FOR THE CONTRACT. PAUL'S RESPONSE IS A LIE.

I had found Paul's MRJ Builders on Angies List and saw all the great ratings, so gave him a try. He came to the home to be purchased the following weekend and we went over everything that needed to be addressed. He then sat down with me to further discuss. I had told him that I needed these estimates ASAP to submit for a short sale negotiation. He understood and even told me he would give me two; one for me and one for the bank with slightly higher prices. This is where things went wrong, or should i say went no where. After the deadline to submit the estimate came and went (and after 2 phone calls to speed up estimate delivery) i still had no paper in my hand. I then got a small paragraph with prices and vague descriptions emailed to me to shut me up AFTER the deadline was missed. One friday i called him anyway and told him "I need these estimates, no more waiting" his reply: "I'm not at the office but i'll send them out to you this week." AGAIN the week (in fact i gave him 1 1/2 weeks) came and went. Frustrated and angry i called him (already knowing he lost my business) and asked him "I still do not have them" Paul's reply: "I'm not at the office can i call you back?" I responded by telling him "No, that is not an acceptable answer." Only to be hung up on. Bottom Line: You can judge alot about a business by how its run. Thanks to his lack of response, or even care for all i know, i have no negotiating power with this short sale. MRJ Builders, my money will be going to a competing contractor! IN RESPONSE TO PROVIDER RESPONSE: The "3-4 page estimate" was the Home Inspection Report providing no prices what-so-ever. The paragraph that was emailed to me was WELL over a week. And NO OTHER estimate was obtained while awaiting a response from MRJ. --DO NOT manipulate events in your favor. You are wrong.--

This was the best experience I have had with a contractor .PAUL was always pleasant to deal with and showed himself to be trust worthy and reliable.I had estimates from others but Paul's was the most comprehensive and reasonably priced.I had my own ideas and he willingly spent a lot of time discussing them and making terrific suggestions for improvements. All the work which involved carpentry, plumbing, tiling, electricity and painting was top notch. The finished job was beyond my expectations ;and as a result I now have a stunning beautiful new bath room. There is no question I would use him again and also highly recommend him.The entire process went very smoothly with none of the nightmarish problems I have experienced before and which you constantly hear about. I chose MRJ based on Angie's reviews, a BBB search, and the fact they are close to where I live. Left a message and Paul returned my call the same day. He was very flexible in setting an evening appointment (8:30pm). He spent an hour and a half with me and my wife discussing kitchen remodel options. He took several measurements and gave us some interesting ideas. Very pleasant to deal with. Promised a quote by the following Monday, unfortunately we never heard from him again.
