Jefferson has superb customer service - they go above and beyond always. Everyone is excellent from the people on the phone to the technicians - we have never been disappointed and have been using them for over 30 years. Their prices are extremely fair and reasonable and the quality of their work is fabulous. Truly outstanding from every aspect. I wish all companies were like Jefferson.

I think of NC Jefferson as a high-end plumber, as a few years ago we used them to replace shower fixtures with premium diverter, shower head and handles, and they weren't cheap. But they identified a special issue a cheap plumber may have missed and did a good job. So I called them back to fix a leaky bathtub faucet. Jeff W identified that the previous plumber who "fixed" it, a cheapo plumber hired through American Home Shield -- which you should never use, btw -- seemed to have shoved the old stem in place in a way that broke it. But the fixtures were so outdated, a new stem couldn't be found without replacing the diverter and everything else with a new brand. So he managed to do a custom repair of the old stem -- the time for which he didn't charge me; he said he did it on his own between other jobs -- and charged me just for the time he spent time removing it and installing the repaired stem. Given that he tried to go above and beyond what a normal plumber would do to save me money, I'll continue to use them,

Excellent!!! Everything was fixed. He had replacement parts on his truck to fix the running toilets. The two drains were fixed without a snake or rotor. Plumber very knowledgeable and professional. I would use again.

Karl - is a technical wizard in diagnosing issues with our forced air central air conditioning, humidifier and furnace. Literally, within two minutes he had found a wire with an end clip had been severed likely just from the outside unit running so hard during the "heat dome". After the fix, Karl performed diagnostics on the a/c systems making sure they had the proper amounts of refrigerant, pressure and the functioning within specifications shedding heat and cold. We have lived our home for just over four-years and we have come to respect, rely and frankly like Karl and N.C. Jefferson. Recommended without any reservations - A+

We have a 20 year old leaky A/C unit and asked the maintenance company for an estimate to replace it. In 2020, the refrigerant R-22 it uses will be banned, so repairs are a waste of money. I was told that we need to also replace the old furnace heat exchanger since it was not compatible with a new A/C. If we have to do that, we might as well install a new furnace. After the "maintenance" evaluator left, my wife sent Jefferson a text message for an evaluation. Within a few minutes ... she got a call that Bruce Jefferson (founder of the company) was in the area and could stop by. Five minutes later he showed up. I really, really mean Five minutes! I complained "What took you so long?" He explained what type of unit we needed and provided a separate quote on the A/C and A/C plus new furnace. He told me the heat exchanger was sound ... but the old furnace would not have the efficiency of a new 2 stage fan furnace. If we sell the house in the next five years, a higher efficiency, lower energy cost system would help the sale. I received two quote .. one, form the maintenance HVAC company. It has excellent consumer ratings on the Internet. Jefferson's quote ... replacing just the A/C was 24% LOWER and the Jefferson AC had a higher SEER efficiency which lowers operating costs For doing both the A/C AND the furnace, the Jefferson quote was 58 % lower! I know form past experience that they fully back the work they do.

On 1/14 N C Jefferson's technician, Karl, came and made short work of diagnosing and fixing the leads to a transformer that provides voltage to the solenoid valve to turn-on was not getting voltage. He fixed the wiring from the transformer and the humidifier received the right voltage and turned on. On 1/18 I realized that while voltage was restored to the humidifier - it did not turn off - when the furnace turned off. On 1/19, Karl returned again and rewired the furnace/humidifier - bypassing a faulty sensor and transformer. This was all done without an additional charges, clearly they stand behind their work. I consider my self handy and Karl's technical and diagnostic skills a beyond reproach. Besides being the "Jedi Master" of all things HVAC - he is a h*** of nice guy.

According to their website this company provides "Reliable plumbing, heating & AC service in Princeton area. Jefferson's does right by you."

What a joke. What a lie. This is the most unreputable, untrustworthy company I will never again do business with.

Karl arrived on time, and is a pleasant good humored person.
He diagnosed a ground fault in the outdoor compressor/fan unit to our air conditioning system.
As a technician, there is no one better at sniffing out the gremlins in central a/c and heating units!
We applaud his technical skills, his craftsmanship and honesty!

Staff was nice and helpful and drained the pipe of my tub and initially it worked, but 2 days later was backed up again.  I called them over the weekend and they called me back Monday morning and said they do not warranty any drain work which I get if it was a long time in between, but 2 days I would hope that they would try and take the extra effort, bascially cost $225.00 for nothing that they did work wise.  Plus the other money I had to pay to get the company to fix it.  Used Jefferson a few times, I can't see my using them again.

Plumber showed up without an appointment and no call from the office - which was slightly inconvenient, but we appreciated that he was able to come several days sooner than originally scheduled.  I showed Karl the shutoff valves for the tub behind the access panel that had leaked profusely days before pouring water through the ceiling below.  He 'packed' the valves and they stopped leaking.  I then showed him the faucets in the tub that dripped after being shut off.  I had purchased a new faucet set hoping that he would be able to replace the old ones with new, but he quickly informed me that doing so would require cutting through the tile  & wall and not an easy task.  I quickly abandoned that idea and asked if he could at least stop the existing faucets from dripping.  He proceeded to take them apart and manipulate them advising that this type of faucet takes a few minutes to stop dripping after being shut off and cautioned us to not crank them down hard.  He did not replace any parts or washers.  The bill was $173 and the faucets continued to drip, drip, drip.
Approximately 2 weeks later the same faucet that Karl worked on stopped supplying hot water to the tub.  Jefferson's sent another plumber who determined that the washer was broken and lodged inside the faucet which prevented water from coming through.  He corrected the problem by replacing the washer.  This time the bill was $162 and there was no consideration given to the fact that the washer was not performing properly during the previous call - Karl left with the faucet still dripping - had he replaced the washer during the first call, the dripping would have stopped and the washer would not have failed and we would not have been inconvenienced.
When it came time to pay the bill, I was asked to also pay the charge for the previous visit. I informed the plumber that I had just mailed a check for that charge and provided my credit card to pay for that day's charge of $162, yet my credit card was charged $335 for both calls.
I have called on Jefferson's for many years, usually with good results, but after this experience I will not be calling on them again.

A set of faucet was supposed to be ordered and installed, but no follow up on the order.
Response from N C Jefferson Plumbing Heating and A/C Inc

"There was an oversight on ordering Ms. [removed member name]'s replacement stems for her faucet. We completed a service call at her home in November when we replaced the tank parts in 5 water closets and replaced a pop-up assembly in the upstairs bath. 3.75 hrs of labor and the replacement pop-up and toilet parts totaled $825.95. It was indeed a mistake on our part that we did not order the replacement stems but when she called about it in April (5 months after our initial visit) we immediately took action to order the stems. When we phoned Ms. [removed member name] to ask for a photo of the faucet (it takes different stems than the typical Kohler faucet) she informed us that she already sent a picture to a local supply house and they were ordering the stems for her. There were no issues witht he services we provided her and I do not think that that warrants an overall "F" rating."

They started using helpers who are not well trained and need to spend a lot of time on the job.  Quality of work sees noticeably decline from my prior experience while costs have been much higher than expected due to longer time spent on the job.
Response from N C Jefferson Plumbing Heating and A/C Inc

"[member name removed] has obviously posted some contradictory reviews... different grades on same day. She also states the services were provided in February but it was acutally November. Yes... we have apprentices on staff!!!! There is only one way for plumber to learn and gain experience in the field and the the apprentices we employ are enrolled in the NJ Aprrenticeship Program. We did not charge [member name removed] for the apprentice we sent with the technician in November. We only charge for the apprentices time when they are actively needed to complete a job and it couldn't have been completed with one man. Other times, like the job at [member name removed]'s, the apprentice is there to learn. Why anybody would want to deny a person the chance to learn is beyond my comprehension. It was noted on our technician's ticket that day that the homeowner did not want a "helper" sent next time. By all means we would have honored that request, silly as it may seem. If anything, the job was completed more efficiently because the apprentice was there that day... it certainly DID NOT take longer because he was there. I think [member name removed]'s reviews cannot be trusted since they are both contradictory and inaccurate."
