The work on the cabinet began, and soon ran into all sorts of troubles--the wrong hinges, the wrong dimensions, difficulties figuring out how to make the cabinet look the way the plan looked.  To be fair, the carpenter offered to come on his own time to catch up, since he was the one who had made the mistakes and had trouble executing the plan.  At this point about 4 weeks had gone by.  Then, however, the person stopped coming--and his story was that the van with all of his tools broke down and the owner was not getting it fixed.  He also was very surprised that the owner had not gotten in touch with me.  This went on for about 3 weeks until I finally called the person doing the work and said just come and pick up your tarps and workbench.  The owner of the franchise just stopped communicating with me when problems arose.  Now, I have a half-finished cabinet in the living room, no molding on the walls at the base of the cabinet, and the need to find someone else willing to finish this job.  I would never recommend Mr. Handyman of Princeton to anyone for anything.

Mr. Handyman has sent a different man to my house for each job I've called about, but all of them have been very qualified for a range of jobs from simple wiring and plumbing, to carpentry and even some roofing.  They can be an expensive solution, but they are professional, responsive and easy to work with.  At their hourly rate you want to have a clear list of jobs to be done and get them right to it.  You can find cheaper solutions for handyman type jobs, but I've been very happy with the overall quality and will hire them again.

They responded to the appointment requests (made online both times) by telephone in a timely fashion, and showed up when scheduled. I've found it difficult to find someone to do small jobs like this and have been happy with their work. I'm generally satisfied with their prices and I'm willing to pay for the convenience of getting the job done.

bad, I would not use them again. The owner or manager called and asked me about it and then did nothing.

The pricing is hourly. One price for the first hour + travel and a slightly lower price for subsequent hours. The price points are stiff ($150 first hour + $20 for travel + $90 for subsequent hours). The overall experience of scheduling and the corresponding follow up was good. While we described the job to the office manager, he suggested that we have other things lined up since we would be paying for 1.5 hours anyway. This led us to believe that this is a relatively short job. When the technician arrived, he pointed out right at the beginning that this is a 3-4 hour job and would cost $300-$400. We were taken aback, but wanted to get the job done and chose to proceed anyway. The technician (Mike) was professional. He needed to step out and purchase some parts, which he handled. He had trouble putting in the microwave-misaligned bolts that he needed to drill again, etc. While he was all set in less than two hours to hook up the microwave, it took him at least an hour longer to align the bolts because they were drilled in the wrong place to start with. In any case, I felt that I ended up paying more than I should have because of the professional mistakes. Then again, I signed up for an hourly deal. Otherwise, I had nothing to complain about. He kept the workplace clean and was very courteous. I helped him hold up the microwave a couple of times while he was aligning the bolts. While he would have handled it single-handedly, it might have taken longer. They seem to have a whole array of services they offer and Mike seemed very experienced.

Everything was absolutely wonderful. They did all of the work in one day, and I haven't had any problems with anything at all. They were punctual, and absolutely professional. I've always had a hard time trying to find people to do work, and I plan on using them again to do some painting and do a few more little things around the house.

This was the worst home repair experience I've ever experienced. Job originally quoted for 2-3 weeks took over 3 months to complete and cost way more than quoted. The tile job looked terrible and they destroyed the carpet in adjoining room while doing the work (grout stains everywhere). They also damaged the new vanity and tub while installing. They couldn't get the new shower regulator to work properly (which I eventually fixed myself). The toilet was installed improperly (which I hired a real plumber to fix later). The first time I went to use the new shower, I discovered the installer had cut the pipe to the shower head which caused water to leak into the kitchen below causing substantial damage. To top it off, when I went to sell this house it was discovered that the new exhaust fan was improperly wired (the connection/splices had not been boxed) and I had to give the buyer of my home a credit for the shoddy work. The finished bathroom looked so terrible, I eventually had it gutted and all of the work redone. The lesson here is to hire contractors to do remodeling jobs, not handymen.

The technician was friendly, professional, very willing to do what was asked of him. He was neat and professional. The jobs took 4 hours. The fee includes taxes, a $15 travel charge and is minus a $28 coupon.

THE EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD, EVEN THOUGH THE FINAL PRICE WAS HIGHER THAN WHAT HE QUOTED ME. THERE WAS SOME EXTRA WORK THAT THEY DID NOT INCLUDE IN THE QUOTE, BECAUSE THEY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT UNTIL THEY STARTED TO FIX IT.
