We trusted them as they did small jobs for us previously. They removed everything from the house above and below the damaged areas. This included undamaged contents of the house and all needs to be replaced. Curtain rods, cabinets, brass door knobs etc were "gone" according to them.
Cigarette butts everywhere. So much debris left in the crawlspace.
They charged us for work not completed such as removal of tree stumps and bagsters. It took 3 months of constant excuses after which we had other companies complete the work we paid for. We had to pay again for this work.
We had to clean up the interior left with sheetrock, insulation, contruction debris, nails in the floors and debris in the crawlspace.
They repeatedly promised to complete work and never did that. Someone was always reported as "sick" and could not work.
Special contents of the garage that belonged to my mother were "gone". She passed in 1993 and her belongings were unreplaceable.
We were told permits were obtained for repair and electrical work; we paid for this work and then were told by the local government that permits were never issued.
I reported them to the Sandy Fraud Squad and they did not reply to them, so nothing could be done.
In the grief of the damage to my house due to Sandy this company made our loss so much greater.
Please ask for references when hiring Home Improvement Companies.
In retrospect, I should have never hired this company. So many excuses, shoddy work and being ripped off was the last thing we needed.
