Very good and precise work.  Not so easy to hang a heavy door and have it be level and square.

Response from E. Haliotis Custom Carpentry
"I love working on houses like this, A beautifully maintained Victorian farmhouse, with a lot of history. Thank goodness the weather was amicable. I hope to have more projects for this delightful new client."

Ed knew exactly what to do. He is a professional craftsman who takes pride in his work. Everything was done perfectly. The cabinet he remade looks like it was supposed to be that size. You'd never know it was re-made. He also removed the countertop without reporting any problems. Fianally, Ed conducts himself with professionalism. He returns calls promptly, arrives on time, and works efficiently. He is also a pleasant man who is nice to have in our home.

Ed is my forever contractor. He did an absolutely fantastic job. His attention to detail is amazing and his greatest concern is that his customer get exactly what they want. I waited 8 months for Ed to be available to complete the first phase of my project which was the expansion of the master bedroom closet, but it was worth the wait. Ed came with pictures from other jobs to help me decide what I wanted and then created a drawing of exactly what we were going to do. Once he started the work he was there every day, on time and always checked in with me to ensure I was happy. He coordinated his subontractors really well. I never had to wait for any subcontractor to appear or to get their part of the process completed.
Phase 2 which took about a month as Ed said it would, entailed gutting the bedroom and installing and painting 6 new doors in the hallway. Again, Ed's attention to detail was superb. He helped me to make appropriate door, hardware and trim/molding choices in line with the size of my bedroom and appropriate to the style of my house. He was always honest with his opinion, rather than yessing me, and offered ideas and suggestions to help me achieve my ideas. Once again, his subcontactors were great. I got exactly what I asked for from the sheetrock guys, painter and electrician. They were there when they were supposed to be and did really good work. They went out of their way to enure I got what I wanted.
I will never ever use anyone other than Ed for the work my home. He is by far the best I've ever dealt with.

We were very, very happy and pleased with Ed's work. This is a very honest, reliable, dependable, and trustworthy man. He tells you when he will do the work, what he is going to do, and he is on top of everything. His fees are very fair and he explains things very thoroughly. He's a very hard worker and a great guy and I would highly recommend his services. He will be the first person we will call again when we have another home project that we want done.

I joined Angie's List in order to find a contractor specifically for this project. After reading the reviews, I contacted Ed Haliotis for an estimate. I could not have made a better decision. Ed is extremely reliable and professional. He explained the scope of the work and went to great lengths to find a perfect match for our existing vinyl siding. Ed's price was very reasonable, he delivered what he promised when he promised, there were no "add-ons" for unforeseen problems (there were no unforeseen problems!). He started and finished the 3 day project as planned - despite the fact that the temperatures hovered around 100 degrees during the entire time. The finished job exceeded our expectations, and it was an all-around pleasant experience. We will certainly call Ed for all future projects.

"Great people to work for! I usually work alone, but needed to call in helper due to the size of the new door & window. The final look on the exterior of their home looked seamless. Look foward to helping them complete their new kitchen."

Ed Haliotis is an excellent craftsman. He is completely dependable, extremely neat and clean on the job site, and finished all work on schedule. We will use Ed Haliotis on our future projects.

"Great re-make of entire living room area. Installation of new bay window with new window seat incorporated with radiator cover. On site custom built mantle which incorporated moldings to mount lighting sconces and mirror over new mantle. New crown and base moldings along with the new floor gave this home a brand new look without much renovation to the framing of the living room. Great to work for people who are open to new ideas and work them in with their own."

Ed is very responsive to all our calls, and very good at diagnosing problems. For example, when we developed a leak in the living room, we originally thought we had a leaky roof. Ed came over and pulled some shingles, but could not find a leak. He continued his sleuthing, and found that the drain pan for the attic air conditioner was clogged, and the emergency overflow pipe was improperly installed by the HVAC people when we built the house, and was draining into our wall instead of existing the house. He diagnosed our problem, and orchestrated all the repairs. He is equally diligent and timely in doing simpler tasks, such as fixing storm torn screens on our porch. He is extremely trustworthy and responsible; we have entrusted him with a key to our house so he can come by at any time to check out our problems. If he does not have the expertise himself, he is always cheerfully willing to recommend someone who has.

"Great loyal clients. Have done much work for them in this renovated home with great view on Sandy Hook Bay. Everything from custom cabinetry to maintenance of exterior which requires a lot of attention due to its location."

Ed Haliotis, visited my home one day after my call to assess situation and give me an estimate for completing job. Inspection Report said that entire structure would need to be jacked up to replace beam---obviously I thought this would be very expensive. Ed's assessment was more realistic and thoroughly professional...and cost effective...he even figured out how to replace beam without jacking up entire structure or moving plumbing running alongside current beam thereby saving me a great expense overall and $2500 in estimated plumber costs. Job was completed within 10 days of my initial call with no inconvenience to us whatsoever. Ed also hired and coordinated subcontractors who were necessary to build new cement block footing supports for the newly installed beam. Ed Haliotis is an extremely talented carpenter and and high-integrity individual. When he commits to something -- he does it expertly and at a reasonable and competitive price.

"This could have been a major obstacle in the sale of this beautiful, custom designed home in Rumson. Being as there was no deflection or sag in the existing girder, I just temporarily supported the existing joists on either side of the girder removed the old twisted beam & and installed the new, stronger girder. Getting the new 40 ft. beam into the crawl space was actually one of the challenging aspects of this project. Great people to work for and happy to help."
