Contacted One Hour Heating & Air to service central heating which was not working. I was told by service technician that the furnace had a cracked heat ex-changer and he showed me a photo he took and described the damage and said I needed a new furnace. I gave a deposit for a new furnace to be installed the next day. Later on when I had more time to research the cost of a new furnace I discovered I was about about to spend 2x to 3x more than the average furnace replacement. I contacted a different company for a second opinion and the second technician was flabbergasted at what he found. The old furnace did not have a cracked heat ex-changer but a defective ignitor. The old furnace could not be tested because the heating unit had been sabotaged. All the wires had been cut and torn out, the main circuit board had been removed and was missing and the unit was no longer operable. It had been trashed. The technician from One Hour falsely claimed there was a damaged heat ex-changer by fabricating evidence to the effect, destroyed the original furnace and tried to sell a new furnace at an exorbitant cost. These practices may have stemmed from an over zealous salesman seeking a huge commission or could be the standard operating procedure used by One Hour Heating to bilk unsuspecting customers out of extra money. If there was a ever a perfect case of caveat emptor this is one. If technician from One Hour had not destroyed the original furnace it could have been repaired for $150. Instead I ended up spending $2000 for a new furnace. This is FRAUD with a capital F!
