We scheduled the job and then had to adjust somewhat because of the township schedule for doing the inspection and my availability. The sub-contractor called on the scheduled morning and gave me the eta which he met. He spent time going over the process and then he and his team went to work opening up the floor and installing the drainage.
Dan from their office was our primary contact and coordinated the various activities including getting the inspectors to come by. They did the inspection of the open floor and then the subcontractors came by and finished the system over the next two days.
Dan then coordinated for the electrical contractor to come by and do the electrical work on the sump pumps.
Next Dan coordinated the three final inspectors but the plumbing inspection failed because they wanted a sleve put on the pac piping going from the sump pumps to outside. Dan had someone from their service team come out and make the modifications and then coordinated the inspector coming back out again and it passed.
We have had no water problems since they completed this service. I was happy with their system, installation process and their communication.
Note: this company offers a discount if consumers promise to write a letter of recommendation. Take all positive reviews with a grain of salt.
Excellent product, but not worth the hassle of dealing with an utterly incompetent management that farms out the work to a third party and then goes missing in action for the duration of the project. Maybe if an employee from the company had supervised the crew or checked in occasionally, the work would not have failed inspection several times.
I was dumbstruck when I asked the sales representative, Steve Billig, for the name and address of someone to whom I could send a formal letter of complaint: he told me with to write the letter to him personally!
There have already been several negative reviews of Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing on Angie?s List. Our experience has been similar to what other reviewers have already written:
?Dealing with this Co. was a nightmare from start to finish.?
?They gave a quick high pressure presentation and a deal if you signed up right then.?
?The work was conducted by a third party contractor.?
?The salesman lied about everything. I don't think he said one thing that was true. I asked him about using jack hammers for plastered walls and he said no but he did use one.?
?The estimator came out and did a typical sales job. The original price was $14,000?This company comes in high and will come back with counter offers. The ?manager? came out and got it down to $10,000 (rounded off). Given all that they said they would do, it seemed fair, plus there was a guarantee.?
?Tactics can be misleading (not being upfront about the possible need to?)?
??buyer beware! Make sure they tell you all the possible issues with your particular basement before signing. And don't accept the first price. I later found someone who had the same work done for $7,000.?
?Terrible Experience: Overpriced, inferior workmanship, damaged my lawn, landscaping and basement windows. Arrogant sales?
Midatlantic took the time to make my wife and I truly understand what they were going to do and how their system works.
I would highly recommend them.
Thanks to Angie's List this Co. reached out to
us to "see how the service is going." After some back and forth calls
that included me being called the wrong person, being told that I could
receive an estimate to further extend the waterproofing service area in
basement ( i think this person did not know I was for a couple of our
conversations) and then finally scheduling to have a "senior" service
tech come and assess the basement issues we found out that the original
drain they installed in our rear basement entry had never been bolted
down and was therefore clogged with mud and debris making the system
compromised to incoming water. My husband scooped out the mess himself
once the tech showed him. We are hoping this will amend the issue but we
are still not sure. Only time will tell. The fact that this was never
properly secured and that when we had tech's come and inspect the area
they never thought to look at this area is a bit shocking but in my
experience w/ Mid-Atlantic it is kind of not so shocking. I was also
shocked but then not so shocked when I received a voice mail from the
service manager yesterday asking me to "chang my review." This was the
first time he ever mentioned this review. It was never spoken of
formally prior. So to ask a customer to change their review of the Co.
is a bit intrusive. I'm still not even sure this will solve our issues
w/ the water in the basement. I do want to be fair and write all that
has occurred, fair to their company but really I want to inform other
potential clients. I see the customer service model for this company as
completely self serving. There was never a time when this Co.
acknowledged or apologized for their errors, our time wasted or their
service flaws. I am certainly still not sold but will see how this
latest info. impacts our basement over time.
"This customer was advised of a four wall problem in their basement but chose to do less in order to ave money. In the interest of food will, we installed the third wall for free. This customer did not have a warranty on their walls."
The work was conducted by a third party contractor. They were very professional. They left the basement clean after they had completed the work. They did however miss repairing one of the cracked walls. I believe they also used the water heater as a source for water. This would not be an issue if not for the slow leak we now have. Prior to the work, we had no leak with the water heater. After the work, we found a paper cup located at the spigot for the water heater. We contacted Mid-Atlantic to advise of the cracked wall that had been missed and the water heater issue. They scheduled a future appointment to address the missed cracked wall. However, when we mentioned our water heater issue, were advised to call a plumber. NOT the customer service response I was looking for. We know have to pay out of our pocket to have the slow leak addressed that was created by this work.
I have seen the other comments out of curiosity, and some complain about the pricing. They are not the cheapest option, but they are the best.....and you get what you pay for . Would you not want the best for something as important as waterproofing your basement?
"We have worked diligently to resolve this matter ever since this review was posted. Over the course of several months we have attempted to contact this customer with no response. We would appreciate it if this customer would get in touch with us to ensure all issues have been resolved. We will stand by our warranty and ensure all of our work is properly done."
"Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing’s products are state of the art and manufactured exclusively for our company. It is not possible that another company could complete the same work. We are glad that you were happy with your installation. Enjoy your dry basement!"
We met with a few other basement waterproofing contractors and we have to say that Mid-Atlantic had the most comprehensive system/plan and the most experience. We had a second sales meeting where we went back and forth on price until we eventually came to a point we both agreed on.
The work was started on time and was done quickly and efficiently. The crew they sent were very hard workers, taking no breaks and working until 8PM after starting around 8AM in order to get the job done the second night.
They cleaned up after themselves fully and three weeks later my basement is dry and smells a lot better. Great work all around.
Most recently I called because a home inspector identified that the rubber plugs on top of each sump pump lid were missing. I contacted Mid-Atlantic and they immediately mailed me the two plugs and associated hardware... No questions. No cost.
Great experience.
