IN January i was diagnosed with a brain tumor and wasadmitted to the hospital for immediate emergency surgery. I was in the hospital for 3-4 weeks & was then transferred to Kessler Rehabilitation Institute for a month of physical & occupational therapy. I was released in April and advised to make certain modifications to my home in order to have a safe transition. One of the therapists at Kessler gave me a brochure for "Back Home Safely", a company with an extensive background in dealing with the disabled, & people returning home from extended hospital stays. I contacted them & they sent one of their reps to evaluate my home & what I might need. A few days later they sent an installer to put up grab bars in my bathrooms &showers. They also put up a railing & stair risers in the garage. Although they never discussed fees, they demanded immediate .payment.I paid at that time but later learned that my health insurance co has partial coverage for alot of this stuff. (Something that an expert in the field should have known). When I submitted a claim to my insurance carrier they denied payment because I didn't have the proper codes & it wasn't preapproved. All things that they should have known & informed me about prior to doing the work. I have since resubmitted the forms several times, & have yet to be reimbursed . At one point they told me that At Home Safely should have submitted the forms- with the proper codes- directly to them. I relayed this information to the company but they told me they couldn't be bothered. This company has a poor way of doing business, & I found that . their claims of being caring & compassionate to the disabled were unfounded. I would not recommend them to anyone, and will never use them again. I have still not been reimbursed
