Shier Tree Expert

I would give zero stars if I could. We hired Mike Shier to remove several dead ash trees behind our back yard. He did not explain how he would do it and did not give us a contract ahead of time. The day he did the work, we came home to find the job completed in a way we had never expected. He cleared almost an acre of brush and small trees in our side yard in order to access the trees that needed to be cut down, leaving the whole area completely bare. And he pushed all the debris into a massive mound encroaching on our neighbor's property. We now have to pay five times the amount he charged us to have the mound removed by another company. He ignored our calls and emails for a year. Completely unprofessional and untrustworthy.

I was absolutely blown away with how much work Shier got done in one day. It was truly awesome, in the real sense of the word. It was actually entertaining to watch. Clearly, Shier has invested a lot in his equipment and in his team, and they function like a well-oiled machine. They got two days of work done in one day, and their fee was very reasonable. Mike Shier is a true professional who clearly takes pride in his team and the job. Everything was done safely and accurately. I have used two other local tree services in the past few years, and they were very good, but Shier is in another league altogether. Other tree professionals in the area have good things to say about Mike, and his credentials are rock solid.

We have known Mike since our kids were in school together. He is a hard worker and has worked to create his own business in the town he grew up in. We have seen his work all over our township for years now and have always been impressed with the quality of his work. We loved having him and his crew come to do our simple job as we recognized several crew members from their high school days. They arrived on time, early in fact, and were gone in two hours. Our yard is as clean and neat as it was before they dropped the trees. We are looking forward to seeing what Mike does to our favorite maple tree when he returns.

They are exceptional. In the past they've charged us a daily rate. The daily rate has been unbelievably low compared to the high amount of work they've done. I am about to call them to take care of the remains from hurricane Sandy.
