"Mike and, his helper did a fantastic job repairing the drywall crack in our dining room ceiling. There were several steps involved which included repainting the entire ceiling, but Mike did not cut any corners, and did things right the first time. He thoroughly cleaned up afterwards, and you would never know that we had had work done, except for the fact that the ceiling was as good as new. He works very hard, with a measure of Integrity you don’t always find with contractors. He arrived on time, and his work was very fairly priced. He will be on my shortlist for any home repairs in the future."

"I contacted MNM Group to perform plaster repairs in my older home. Zee responded quickly with an in-person quote and explained the pros and cons of the options that were available to me. He was available via both text and phone to answer any questions I had. He installed a sheetrock ceiling in one room, repaired a very difficult stairwell ceiling leading to my upstairs hallway, repaired another stairwell ceiling leading to the basement, repaired water damage in a bedroom and mended various cracks in my plaster walls in several areas. The work was very high quality. The plaster ceiling in my stairwell is SO beautiful now because of his fine work. Zee was a pleasure to work with, on time, talented and I could tell he is a contractor who wants to make his customers happy. I would hire him again and highly recommend his services."

"Honest and professional. Pat was on time, easy to get in touch with and provided excellent customer service. His work is second to none. Tricolor is not the cheapest group in town but they are the best. You get what you pay for. I have already referred Pat to family and friends in need of plaster repairs and will most certainly use him again for any and all wall repairs in my home. Thank you again Tricolor. Excellent work!"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Options include concrete, stone, brick, and wood, tailored for specific design needs.

With foundation walls, the slab on grade and force at the top of the wall is resisted by flooring. With retaining walls, the force at the top of the wall is not resisted.

To maintain the integrity of your landscape, a retaining wall must be installed if the slope of the angle exceeds 35 degrees. The lean of the wall must be 1 inch per 12 inches in height to disperse the weight of the soil uniformly and guarantee the correct drainage of the soil.

Generally speaking, a retaining wall should be between 3 and 4 feet high, depending on variables such as the wall-building material, the purpose of the retaining wall, and more. If you want your retaining wall to be taller than 4 feet, check with your local building ordinance office for the maximum allotment. You may also need a special permit for retaining walls over 4 feet tall.

Railroad ties can be good for retaining walls, but it depends on the area. They have a desirable rustic look and are durable. The problem is they’re treated with creosote, a preservative the EPA says poses a risk to humans and wildlife. Over time, the preservative seeps out of the wood and into the ground. Many areas have banned the use of creosote-treated wood on residential properties. If your area does allow it, never use railroad ties near an edible garden or drinking water source. Instead, use wood that’s treated with an EPA-approved preservative or a wood-alternative composite material.
