"I recently hired Riteway home improvement for brick repair on my home and was extremely impressed with the level of service I received. The team was prompt, professional, and thorough in their work. They were able to fix small holes and cracks in my steps with ease, using high-quality caulk and wood filler. The end result was a seamless repair that blended in perfectly with the rest of my other work . I was also impressed with the team's attention to detail. They took the time to carefully prep the area before applying the caulk or filler, ensuring that the repair would be strong and long-lasting. They also cleaned up after themselves, leaving my home looking as good as new."

"Z was great, can’t speak more highly of him and the level of service that was provided. He fixed a hole in a wall left by the removal of a sink. The previous owners took every shortcut in the book and this was not an easy repair. The wall looks great now and I’ll certainly be using MNM in the future."

"Honest and professional. Pat was on time, easy to get in touch with and provided excellent customer service. His work is second to none. Tricolor is not the cheapest group in town but they are the best. You get what you pay for. I have already referred Pat to family and friends in need of plaster repairs and will most certainly use him again for any and all wall repairs in my home. Thank you again Tricolor. Excellent work!"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

Rebar is a steel support that goes inside concrete to prevent structural damage over time. Concrete is susceptible to impact, weight, and tension. By inserting rebar into the concrete during the installation, you can help extend its lifespan and avoid hazardous situations where the foundation of your home gives way to tensile forces.

Most retaining wall installations can be finished in one to three weeks, but the timeline varies based on factors like wall size and material. The local climate and major weather events, such as storms or flooding, can also extend the project's timeline, as can any holds ups in the permitting process.

Even if you think you know how to build a retaining wall theoretically, doing the actual work is a completely different story. There are lots of nuances in building retaining walls, and the slightest oversight can compromise their integrity. Therefore, we recommend you hire a pro to build, repair, or replace retaining walls.

The lifespan of a retaining wall varies based on its material, installation quality, maintenance, and local climate, with an average range of 20 to 100 years. Retaining walls made from durable materials like concrete, stone, and brick generally last a minimum of 50 years. Concrete walls typically last between 50 and 100 years, while brick can last for over a century in ideal conditions. Timber retaining walls can last from 20 to 40 years, depending on the wood quality, and pressure-treated wood walls average around 30 years. It is important to note that a retaining wall can fail prematurely if it was poorly constructed, for example, with inefficient footings or without necessary rebar reinforcements.

If you don’t backfill a retaining wall—either at all or adequately enough—the wall won’t drain well, and water will be able to pass through it. Poor drainage will lead to a warped wall or a buildup of hydrostatic pressure, which can eventually collapse your retaining wall. If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.
