As he started working I requested additional services and he said it would cost more and he told me he would get a quote. The initial quote was $10,300 and now I've paid $12,000 and the job still isn't done. The project started in July, and by August he hadn't started on the roof. I was going on vacation and he told me he would do the roof while I was away. When I returned, the roof still hadn't been replaced. I would get a hold of him about once a month, and each time was a different excuse. At first it was that he wanted more money, and I told him no because I had already paid $12,000. I told him that I wouldn't give him anything more until he finished. Then, the weather was too hot. After that, he was too busy with other projects. Then it was too cold. When I finally had him out to my house in March, I inquired about the location of his business as it wasn't where he said it was. Also, his phone had been disconnected. He said I was correct, and that I could get a hold of him on his cell phone. He asked for $5000 more dollars and he would start working again. He finally asked for a check for $1500, and I said no. When I said that I had already paid him $12,00, he told me "Forget about it, that money is gone." Also, he had his equipment in my yard the entire time, and I had asked him constantly to move it. I had threatened him that I would get rid of it and then he came while I wasn't at home finally, and moved it all. I also had been sleeping on a couch for 5 months because my bedrooms were upstairs and that's where the work was being done.
