The contractor had delays in getting started but worked with me to find a convenient two-week period in which to complete the work. Once they came they stayed until the work was done. The circumstances were very difficult. A road right-of-way passes through both properties, allowing another neighbor access to his property. Both yards looked like they were filled with bomb craters for about two weeks. The road was often blocked by equipment or excavation but always reopened at the end of the workday. (The neighbors were very understanding.) It was agreed with my neighbor that I would supervise the work on both systems. I was directly involved at every step of the installation. Jim Pierson, himself, was on site for some part of every workday and always available to me by his cell phone. Concerns or requests I raised were immediately discussed and addressed to my satisfaction. Every one of the workers was exceptionally courteous and willing to explain things to me in the kind of detail I like. In particular, the operator of the excavator, who also supervised the work when Jim was not present, was extremely courteous and enormously skilled in the operation of this equipment. He could place a two-ton boulder ?on a dime? and often did. When working on the final landscaping, I liked certain boulders, wanted them kept, placed in a particular spot and turned in a certain way. He would take my hand signals and do it exactly as I wanted. If I didn?t want a particular boulder, they would take it away. The property was restored to my complete satisfaction. The final cost was as anticipated. There were no surprises. I highly recommend, with no reservations, Jim Pierson Excavating. Jim is direct, courteous and highly skilled.
Description of Work: My next door neighbor and I each had to put in new septic systems on very small properties. There were a great many problems with clearances from property lines, wells, a lake, rock shelf and each other’s system. We decided to install the two systems together, perhaps saving money and avoiding conflicts over the clearances between the systems. These were completely new systems and because of space, rock, etc., they were of different designs. One consisted of a septic tank, pump tank and four seepage tanks (1000 gals. each). The second system consisted of a small pump tank next to the house, a 1000 gal. septic tank, a 1000 gal. pump tank and a septic field. Space for the field required a pneumatic hammer to remove rock shelf. Following the installation of both systems the surface of the property had to be landscaped to restore it as much as possible to the natural wooded property that we love.
