Established in 2005, my family built Bold Electric under the premise of bridging the gap between the large electrical companies and the NJ homeowners who rely on them. We've been family owned and operated ever since, striving to work harder to give homeowners the customer service and satisfaction they deserve and should expect from their electrician. We put our hearts into every job we perform for you. You aren't just clients, you are our neighbors who need a New Jersey licensed professional electrician who can do the job right.
Bold Electric LLC, also a certified Kohler® Generator Installer, has formed a strategic partnership with Cooper Power Systems. We are offering our customers a hedge against power outages that disrupt their daily lives with the installation of Standby Home Generators. A Standby Generator is ready 24 hours a day 7 days a week to respond to a power outage within seconds. With diesel fuel or natural gas powering the generator, the homeowner can continue using all connected circuit breakers with minimal disruption indefinitely. The generator will automatically transfer the connected circuits back to the grid once utility power is restored.

We contacted the customer about our oversight two weeks ago, and requested his contact info to schedule an employee to give him a free estimate. Angie's List's email with Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s request just slipped past us and we sincerely apologized to him. This is not typical of our company and was an honest mistake. Please always feel free to give us a call at 908-421-9157 if you do not hear from us the same day. We answer our phone every time! :)

Vincent (the owner) provided a quotation quickly and with reasonable pricing. During the 1+ day installation, Vincent and his team were very professional and accommodating to our requests. For example, post-installation we realized we wanted some changes to the front switch configuration and Vincent came back within a few days to perform the work at a nominal charge for additional labor. We hit one minor snag with the pathway lights - i.e. the wrong lights were installed but Vincent apologized and replaced them with the correct ones at the same time he changed the front switch. Overall, we highly recommend BOLD and would use them again.
Description of Work: BOLD Electric installed low-voltage landscape lighting in both the front and back of our house. There were 9 total pathway lights, 8 tree lights (5x 50W + 3x 35W "well" type), and 5 "bullet" lights to illuminate the front facade. To power the lights, BOLD installed 2x 600W transformers - one for front and one for back controlled by a 1000W dimmer for the back and a programmable timer for the front.

Member called us to fix an existing problem in his home which was brought to his attention by a home inspector. We gave him an estimate with the cost up front, which he signed, and the work was completed within a few business days. A week later, upon re-inspection, the inspector brought to Member's attention a completely seperate issue. We gave him a verbal price of 65% off or minimum hourly rate, which he agreed to, to fix the new issue. The new problen was fixed within a few business days. I feel confident that we served the client with the utmost professionalism and for a more than far price. Vincent Battista, President, Bold Electric LLC

The owner of the business arrived to look at our equipment (which was mostly packed in boxes still) and give us an estimate. He advised that, even though we had a 7-channel system, our room was too small to accommodate it. We decided not to use all the channels & went with a 5-channel system. We agreed. He did not have a chance to go through all the equipment but still gave us an estimate based on our telling him that we had all the necessary equipment, including speaker wiring, etc. The cost was essentially for labor only. After a second walk-through, we decided we should order a mini-system through him to supplement some of our speakers which were too powerful and old for this house's new dimensions. He put a clause in the contract that if we were missing any equipment, they would provide it (something we'd have to pay for, of course). He arrived on time with two workers who did 99% of the work. He instructed them and left them. They finished the work in a timely manner, but the placement of the front speakers is ridiculously low to the ground. Even with our low sofas, I am now limited as to where I can place furniture in the room because the front speakers lowest point are only about a foot & a half from the floor. Additionally, we brought high-end Monster speaker wire with us from our old house, but they chose instead to install their standard speaker wire (which we were billed for). We had them come back to change out the less expensive wire for our pre-owned wire (which took some convincing because, thinking as an electrician, the owner said we weren't going to push more amps like our pre-owned wires can so our high end wires were unnecessary). Additionally, we realized after the fact that the mini system wasn't so mini: it was a 7-channel system that he sold us, even though we didn't need all the equipment in it; he initially told us a 7-channel system was too much. When posed with the question as to why we bought a 7-channel system when we can't use 7 channels in the first place, I was told we paid a lot less for the system than we would have if we had paid ala carte for the pieces we needed. There was also another issue: my husband confirmed with the business owner that he would program 2 universal remote controls that we have. We agreed to a price even after he looked at the remotes. After installing the 2 systems, he informed us that he was unfamiliar with the remote controls and even if he knew how to program them, the price he quoted was too low. This was the worst part - we had our theater systems up & running but no way to control it all. Being told this at the 11th hour was disconcerting. When I spoke to the owner via phone, I tried to get the him to program the cable remotes to control as many components as possible, he told me he didn't know how to do it. I was astonished. I asked his workers to do it and they did. I found later that programming the receiver's remote myself after they had gone was the simplest solution (and I'm not an electrician). Finally - they completed their work without installing our Playstation 2 or iPod docks in the bedroom and family room which we originally discussed in our walkthroughs. They did come back to complete that, but I was left unsatisfied. After a few weeks, we had a power outage and the plasma TV programming was wiped. I called the owner of the business hoping he or his workers could walk me through reprogramming it. He told me he'd have his main worker who installed the system call me back. When he did, I missed the call. He left a message. I called him back & got his voicemail. I left a message but never got a call back. Fortunately, I was able to figure it out myself, no thanks to them. The overall feeling I got was that, as licensed electricians, they know their craft; however, I would hire a company more geared towards theater systems if you have high end equipment (their knowledge in this arena was limited at best and not at all what we expected after dealing with an excellent home theater installation company in our previous state.)
Description of Work: We moved to the area from out-of-state with 2 high-end home theater systems: one in the family room, the other in our master bedroom. Though the systems were 5 years old, we only needed installation of existing equipment. We only needed labor. The work was done over a two-day period and after several walk-throughs with the owner of the business, we purchased a mini-system from him to supplement outdated equipment we decided to install.

Response from Bold Electric LLC
In response to Member's comments in order: 1) Upon our first walk thru, none of the equipment was on site. 2) The reason their 7 channel receiver was not used in their family room was,it is outdated for current component connection, which Member agreed with. The old receiver was utilized in the Master Bedroom. Our new receiver was a 7 channel unit, but we only connected 5 channels, leaving the other 2 channels for a future exterior speaker zone, which Member had quoted but decided to complete at a later date. 3) The height of the front speakers in the family room are at a standard height for proper surround sound. The height was discussed before the speakers where installed. 4) The "High End" speaker wire the homeowner's had is not rated to go inside the walls of the home and was too large a gauge to fit in the cube speakers used that weren't in wall. 5) The "standard speaker wire" we used is rated to go in wall and was included in the original estimate, not added. 6) When "Posed" with the question of why we chose a 7 channel new receiver, it was because it had 3-D HDMI pass-thru and had zone 2 output. (See No. 2). The cost of the 7 channel mini system was a sale price, but not the reason it was purchased. All pricing was quoted before purchase. 7) The 2 universal remote control units where not on site for the original estimate. The homeowner asked if we had programmed that brand in the past, which we had. Their are some remotes made by Universal, like the ones the owner has, that require a 2 day training course to program, which we had not taken. As soon as we saw these remotes, we notified the homeowner of the issue. The cost for programming was traded for installing additional lighting. 8) The homeowner was left with the ability to use both systems with the individual component remotes that either we or they provided. 9) The Playstation and Ipod doc where forgotten. This was our fault. However, our lead A/V mechanic did a final walk thru with the homeowner prior to leaving and it was overlooked. This was a minor oversight, which was rectified within a day or two. 10) Our lead A/V mechanic called the homeowner, after hours, to help troubleshoot a problem, which was not due in any way to our installation. The homeowner did not leave my mechanic a message upon her return call. We have been providing quality A/V installations for years with little to no problems. We believe we provided the homeowners in this case with exactly what they where quoted, save the remote programming. My only mistake was agreeing to program remotes which I didn't see prior to giving the estimate. Thank You, Vincent Battista, President, Bold Electric LLC

They are very prompt. He is very honest and I have not had any problems with the work he has done. He knows the codes and keeps an apartment building I own up to code. He is very polite. They put a silk hanging light in my living room too. He sent over 2 gentlemen to get in the attic to do what they needed to do and they did this about 2-3 months ago. I found him through a lighting company. I have been doing business with him for several years. His workers are very polite too.
Description of Work: They installed some outdoor accent lighting for me. Vincent the owner will usually answer the phone himself. They will usually comply with your wishes when it comes to some billing records I had. They have some family members that work there.

I thought they were really good. The guy came and called ahead showed up early and had all of his tools readily available and he was very professional. He gave me a quote right up front and that was what I paid. They did the job in the time they said it was going to take. They wore booties while they were in my home. They were the most professional of any contractor I have worked with and when I need electrical work, I will call them again in the future. I highly recommend them.

He gave an estimate one day, and completed the work the next. The job involved hooking up a pool cleaning device that has different voltage than the timer that was already installed for the pump. He explained options, and had a better solution than the one I had in mind. The work was done quickly, and is working perfectly.

They put in a lot of hours, it was a lot of work. I feel that their prices were a little high but I'm still getting use to New Jersey pricing. I think their services were of good quality.
