The job took a day and a half. The crew was professional and courteous, and they cleaned up when they were done including taking away all the wood and branches.  They even put down metal plates so the large crane would not leave ruts in our yard.  We had 3 estimates, both the others were about double the price.

The tree cutting was done with out any problem however soon after wood the stump grinding crew arrived and wanted to grind the stump, as it was getting dark, I told them to come back tomorrow and do the job during daylight hours. The following day they arrived and started the job. The grinding equipment they had was old, beat up and not working properly and kept stalling out. The machine finally blew a hydraulic line spilling hydraulic fluid all over my lawn. With the machine out of commission, they hauled it back for repair. At 7 PM after dark that same night I heard them working in the back yard. Once again I told them to come back in daylight hours, contrary to my wishes they insisted on getting on with the job even though they could not see what progress if any was being made. The following day I discovered that half the tree stump still remained under a pile of chips. I telephoned RJS Tree service at least 15 times between October and the end of 2013 concerning this matter. In my conversations with Loraine, she assured me that something would be done, however nothing happened and after a while my calls were screened and none were ever returned. The winter snows came and went and I started calling again in the spring. with much the same results. In May of 2014 I contacted the Passaic County Dept. of Consumer Affairs. After they contacted RJS I received a nasty call from Loraine telling me it would be done in two weeks. It never happened. Consumer affairs kept after them and it was only then that they sent that same shoddy piece of equipment back to my property and finished the stump grinding. I still had to remove the contaminated soil and plant new grass. RJS ignored that issue. With no customer service, some people just shouldn't be in business. They have a take the money and run attitude. My advice is don't let these people on your property.

They were very quick, did a good job, did excellent cleanup, and gave me a very good price. The crew were up-beat and they seemed to enjoy their work. The co-owner that I talked to was also very enthusiastic to do the work.

They are very good. He was very reasonable and competitive. They knew what they were doing and they had three guys working with them. They just did very well. They had four trucks and a crane. They had to go way up in the air. He came out fairly quickly. I was on the list and he called when he could come. I had to wait because other people had worse problems.

They were supposed to go up every tree and trim them and get the bushes off. They did not trim one of my main trees. When I called to ask them to come back, they didn't return my calls. They ignore me. My mailbox was pulled out of the ground by about 6 inches and they told me they were going to come back and fix it. I would not recommend them to anybody. They came right after the snowstorm but they did not complete the work. They didn't come back to finish the work, which is where I have the problem.

RJS was the lowest of 3 estimates to cut a dead section from the top of a very big Oak tree and trimming some additional trees on the property. The had to use a crain to reach the section and needed to park it on my neighor's lawn (with permission!) Great care was taken to protect the lawn and no damage occurred. My original appointment was the day after a heavy rainfall and the decision was made that it was too dangerous to go up into the tree which was a decision I have to respect. They showed up early the next morning and performed the job. Clean up was great too. My only complaInt is that there was a two week delay between when I told them to do the job and when they showed up and then only gave same day notice that they were coming. More notice would have been nicer. Would use them again.

The experience was very good. They gave us an estimate. It was a good estimate. They came and did the work. They stuck to the estimate.
