We hardly used the bathroom he remodeled until we had a leak in another. After subsequent uses of the bathroom, we started noticing issues. I called a tile guy I knew regarding water on the floor. He thought the seal may have just settled, which is somewhat likely to happen. As he began to take it apart, he noticed other issues. This lead to us re-tearing out the entire bathroom. He used the wrong material for backing the tile. The wallboard was completely saturated with water and behind that was covered with mold. The shower pan was also improperly sloped. This had to be completely jacked out. Even simply things like the shower drain, was put in upside down. He didn’t use the correct angles for the trap either. When he installed the vent fan, he cut a floor support, weakening the joist. He also used the incorrect type of venting which could have melted and caused a fire. I ended up suing him in court and on the day he was to appear, he sent in a letter that he was filing bankruptcy. He was completely unqualified for plumbing work and clearly doesn’t know what he’s doing. He doesn’t stand behind his work either.
