"We have a complete staff of regular employees that are professional & trusted and have worked with us for many years. We do not hire out independent contractors on a regular basis. On the occasion that we do need additional helpers, we use a movers community forum which is a group of professional, reputable, and highly recommended movers. The movers on the site are all rated and have reviews left for them from various other jobs who have used them. Upon doing my background research and reading nothing but good things, I hired out help for this particular job. I never would hire someone I did not do research on. I did not hire these men off the street. Also to mention, not that this justifies the actions, but we make it VERY clear in our paperwork that the customer should have ALL valuables removed PRIOR to our arrival to better help prevent situations like this from happening. Unfortunately, the customer did not remove her valuable items and unfortunately, I do not have control over people who choose to make poor choices in life. This individual had NO prior record and I had no reason to feel he was unsafe for my company. Of course, I am very sorry this situation happened on my watch and I am just as upset. I never want to this to be a reflection of myself, or my business. Before any resolutions in the case were discovered and 100% sure, I was receiving calls that I was the one who did this when there were still multiple parties in question. I did what any business owner would and made aware that if I was to be threatened with slander before any proof, I would have to take legal action. I never want situations to come to this, as well as never want an unsatisfied customer. This is not something that I condone or accept in my business. Unfortunately, for my customer and myself someone chose to make a poor decision and I could not have tried to prevent this any more than I already did. I am very sorry this happened and for the lost sentiments that can never be replaced."

Moving is an adventure and something which we had not done in 35 years. From the first phone call that was placed for pricing, to the scheduling of our move, Evelyn Vernay was always there to answer any questions we had. The trucking staff kept us informed as to when they would be at our house the day of the move.
As the truck pulled up, on time, two wonderful young men stepped out and introduced themselves to us. Chris and Michael were outstanding in their ability to pack, contain and load our possessions onto their truck. Their helper, Joe, also arrived and they made short work of packing and loading our belongings.
Chris informed us that they would be in South Carolina on Monday morning. We received a phone call on Sunday night stating they would be at our new home on Monday at 9:00 and were there on time. Unloading was quick, and they were again wonderful, courteous and respectful of our furnishings and possessions.
As an additional note, all of our possessions were delivered in tack, no cracks, breakage or crushed items.
We could not have asked for two more wonderful men to move us.
Congratulations on a job well done and making our dreams of retiring to a warmer climate a reality without hassles or added stress.
I've moved before (by OZ) and had things wonderfully wrapped before loading. A few things were scratched, and if I had not been watching, there would have been much more damage. I'm sorry the guys had to work in the rain, but I cannot say this was a professional experience. Angie's list coupon discount was not applied.
I am discovering damaged and broken things.
I will seek another company for my next move.
"This customer needs to realize the difficulty in performing this move. Even under normal conditions, this house would be difficult to move items in or out of. The house was not accessible from a driveway and required a very long walk from truck to house. The day of the move happened to be on a day of very heavy rain. This is out of our control. On the day of the esitmate, the homeowner told me that he would be doing most of the packing. On our estimate we indicated that we would be packing 28-30 boxes. When the movers arrived to load the truck, the homeowner had not packed what he told us he would have done. The movers were required to pack 62 boxes. This is double what was estimated and required both time and material. This was not an easy house to get around in as it was a small house and very packed! which caused the movers to sort through and re-arrange in order to manuver furniture and dollies within the house. The movers did not use the moving quilts in transport to the truck - for if they had, the quilts would have gotten soaked in the rain. The furniture was dried off when in the truck and wrapped in quilts as loaded prior to the move. This is not uncommon practice - in this kind of weather conditions. As far as damage to the furniture - this is just not true. We did not damage anything that came out of this house. It was delivered in the condition it was picked up in. This was a very challanging move! The customer did not advise the office that this was an Angies List customer. There is absolutely no mention of Angies List on the paperwork for this move. Had we been advised - he most certainly would have gotten the 5% discount. Lack of communication ! ! Under the circumstances - this move was flawless !"
