Lowy's Express Inc

My move, while not large, was somewhat complicated because I live on the 2nd floor (no elevator) and there are several turns required to move items out of my apartment. They maneuvered everything with ease and there was not a single scuff on my furniture or walls. They moved me into my new apartment and put my bed back together and connected my sectional couch together. They asked me how I wanted certain items left and were unbothered when I asked them to put them in a different location. It was incredibly hot and humid during my move, but the guys did not complain and made a really stressful time much easier. They were able to make me laugh and keep an upbeat attitude despite the conditions, which made the day soooo much better.

Tom came out to give me an estimate, and the total price came in $250 under, which was great. The movers showed up an hour ahead of schedule, which threw me completely off, but in the end, was probably also a good thing. They came in, looked around, and got very upset that they felt Tom had completely misled them into how big a job it was. They went back to the office to get an additional guy to come work with them that day. I had 4 men total moving my stuff that day, and 2 of them complained constantly the entire 5 hours. Too much stuff, things not packed right, too hot, Tom misled them, etc etc....In the end, they left an assortment of small items behind inside the first house, as well as a few things out on the patio. When it came time to move things into the new place, they did not put the shelves back together, and actually lost a few of the pegs that the shelves go on. They scraped the paint off one of my door frames. They left all the plastic wrap on the things they wrapped for travel, including the dining room chairs they'd stacked together. They left all the "small stuff" (lamps, fans, oddly shaped items) in the big cargo boxes for me "to sort through at your convenience." They asked me to fill out their evaluation in front of them, and didn't offer me to check out the truck to be sure it was empty, which is why I hadn't noticed that my air conditioner was still on it!

So the quick summary is that you can get the job done cheap and adequately with Lowy's, but expect some very grumpy men who will not do any of the finishing work of the move you'd expect from a more professional company.
