"Following is email sent to customer after we attempted to repair door two times, which he did not respond to. Prior to you contacting us approximately four weeks ago, we have never received any previous correspondence from you regarding any issues. If you were contacting George, he no longer works at this company, and has not for over a year. At that time, I sent our project manager, Joe, to try and replace the back-door lock. I sent Joe because he is our most experienced technician. I was comfortable he would be able to come up with a solution for the lock, as he knows how to solve any repair problem he encounters, contrary to your statement. He worked there two days for several hours each day and replaced it as best as possible. When I spoke to him the next morning, he indicated that there is not much else can be done with that door, as it is extremely old and beyond repair. He also told me that he had told you the same. When something that old has been repaired and manipulated so many times, at some point it just becomes impossible to repair. We are trying to realign the lock placement, the weather stripping, and the strike plate in places that have been drilled and screwed many times before. Regarding the painting, the pillars were spot primed at the time. Rust can often return regardless of the primer or paint used. Those pillars are made with wire lath and the rust may continue to bleed through from new locations. I feel it is unwarranted for you to threaten to post something on Angie's List, as we have been more than helpful in trying to address your concerns. We have invested time in trying to rectify your back-door concern, however you need to be understanding of the fact that something that old may be beyond repair."
"Regarding the unfinished work, when our crew was on the project the last day the customer approached our project manager and indicated that she felt our quoted price was too high. He had met with the customer prior to the project and submitted to her a proposal with the quoted price, which she accepted prior to starting the job. When it was apparent that she was trying to "adjust" her price, our project manager indicated that we would not return until she planned to pay our entire agreed upon price. Since that day which is now 10 months ago, she has never contacted us and we still have an outstanding balance of $ 2,300.00! The project was not completed in 11/01/17 as she indicates, our last payment was received in April, 2018. The job was quite extensive including removing an entire tiled wall to remove a defective jacuzzi tub, reinstalling the tub, rebuilding the wall, and resetting and grouting the tile on the wall and tub deck. While on the project we even did some additional work for which we were not even contracted at not charge. After installing the wall tile, which the customer supplied, she then asked us to remove over 14 tiles because they were a little off color. The project manager explained to her that since she was matching natural stone tile that was installed over 6 months ago, variations in coloring is normal. When she spoke to the tile store they explained the same to her. However we removed and reinstalled new tile for her FREE OF CHARGE. Regarding the grout, our crew used only the supplies that the customer provided. If the color was wrong it is because she provided the incorrect grout. The photos showing missing grout is a removable panel to access the jacuzzi pump. At the time we advised the customer that since it was a removable panel not fixed to the wall, the grout would probably crack. Regarding the other photos, at the time of completion the job was not left in that condition. This would not be acceptable to our standards. Big Dog Construction prides itself on completing all projects to our customers satisfaction, but we feel it is the customers responsibility to honor our contracted price for services rendered."
"Thank you so much for your kind words, it was a pleasure to do this work for you and your family. I am looking forward to future projects together."
