Read my future review of Eric Baker Architecture for the reasons why he may not be the best choice for your project. Ray designed a new home for us, using the foundation of the house we had purchased. A renovation was not possible because the ceiling joists on the first floor did not pass current code. Ray listened to our wish list and designed a home with beautiful flow, with thoughtful placement of doors and windows, achieving a beautiful symmetry that makes for a lovely exterior and a very liveable interior. The windows at the front and back of our living and dining rooms, for example, are directly opposite of each other. Thoughtful details like this make all the difference. Once you are in a new home, you quickly realize how maddening it can be if a tradesman does not pay attention to details and outlets, etc are placed in the wrong spot. Ray even ensured that there would be wall space in my kitchen for an antique Irish hutch that I had purchased. Ray produced the blueprints in a timely fashion - ahead of what was promised, in fact. He also returned phone calls in a timely manner - having your architect on call and responsive is an important part of the construction process. Ray is a pleasure to deal with, and upon your first meeting, is the kind of gentleman who is far too modest to brag about the amazing Nantucket (?) home he designed that was featured in Architectural Digest. If you want substance and quality over flash, do yourself a favour and meet with Ray Caselli. Now. One final word of advice when choosing an architect: take the time and contact the local county Court House to see how many times, if any, that the architect's clients have sued him. (Or at the very least Google him after checking Angie's List.)H ad I known to do this, or rather, had Google been as extensive back then, we would have saved a year in the construction process.
Description of Work: If I could give Ray Caselli Architecture an A++, I would! We used Ray Caselli after we fired Eric Baker as our architect in 2002.
