Overall a very positive experience
McDonald quickly provided a comprehensive estimate and set a timeframe for the work. The company is a facility authorized by my insurance company so this expedited the process, and Lauren, the office manager, handled all the paperwork, eliminating a big hassle.
Chris and Brian McDonald, company principals, took pleny of time to explain the repairs needed and patiently answer all my questions. They were very courteous and professional and provided status updates during the repair process.
My car required extensive repair, but Chris and Brian, and Lauren were very attentive to make sure that my car was ready by the promised date, before the time for my insurance covered rental expired so that I did not incur additional expense.
Chris and Brian and staff are very competent as my car was repaired like new and I have had no issues. But as a reassuring safety net, all rerpairs are guaranteed.
Obviously dealing with collision repairs can be very stressful, but McDonald made the process easier to deal with.

My 2006 BMW X5 3.0 was sideswiped, so I needed body work for the driver's side front fender, and both doors. Unfortunately, Morristown BMW does not do body work, so they recommended McDonald. I rue the day I ever walked in that place. My car has never been the same, and to this day still has problems directly related to absolutely unbelievably terrible repair job they did, even after I brought it back 3 times.

OK so initially I should have been tipped off by the fact that their repair estimate ($4,685) was less than JMK BMW's ($6,103) for the same work. But it was closer to me and less of a hassle, so I thought, so I took it to McDonald. Big mistake. It took longer than they told me, so I started calling, and they kept postponing me. Finally after about 3 weeks they said I could pick it up. You would not believe the state the car was in when I showed up. I can't believe they actually expected me to take it. I love my cars. This was my worst nightmare. The car was filthy. There was compound dust all over the interior of the car and covering the engine. There was a huge scratch on the B pillar. There were paint drips on the interior of the doors. The gaskets were put on backwards, so the back door didn't close right. The door information stickers and reflector decals were missing (still to this day). But most annoyingly, the gasket on the rear window was not re-installed correctly, so whenever the window is down while driving, it makes the most annoying whistling sound. I curse McDonald and have to drive with it up. Now this was all that I could SEE. It gets worse.

So they told me they fired the person handling my repair. I came back to get it a 2nd time, and noticed that the wrong type of B pillar trim panel was installed this time. So I had to leave it again, and get another rental car. Which they gave me a hard time about paying for.

But the sneakiest part about it is, that I only found out recently, when the driver's side window got stuck down.....was that they didn't install the insulation and gaskets on the interior of the doors, or weather sealing, which is why the window broke. NOW this makes total sense because everyone who rides in the car thinks the door is open because there is too much road noise. So I'm still living with all these problems, because of the terrible job they did. What a nightmare.

Last night we discovered that due to some small debris pushed through with the screw holding my license plate on, the screw (which was a round headed screw, and thus couldn't be unscrewed using plyers or a wrench) was stuck in the back panel of my van. I saw this firm on Angie's List and called them, and they instructed me to come in later this morning. The person in the back office came out to the car and took a look, and immediately called a mechanic to try and get the screw out. When this didn't work, he wrote up a bid with two options: one, a low price which would apply if they could get the screw out from the inside of the back panel, and the other, a much higher price which would entail taking the back door off and apart.

They agreed to take my car that day, and gave me a ride home. Several hours later the same courteous driver that had driven me home appeared at my door to bring me back. Things had gone well and I paid the lower price for the repair. There were two new screws (with hexogonal heads) holding my plate in place.

Everyone was friendly and the employees seemed to genuinely get along with each other. It was a very pleasant experience arising from an uncommon problem.

The estimate was quick and everything was explained. The other driver's insurance company sent an independent adjuster and the company approved the repairs. I brought the car in on a Monday, it was finished by Thursday, and it looks great. I live in Morristown, and everyone I know recommends McDonald. I was told by other drivers that insurance companies trust McDonald estimates. It is a pleasure to do business with Charlie.
