This is one of those companies you hear about that is super communicative about the job until you pay them and then......NOTHING. They came out to do small job at my home, and the next day one of the stone stairs was loose and needed to be re-glued. Sounds like a simple fix right? Come out and re glue the step and be done with it. NO. I have called no less than 15 times. Victor has promised me that he would be out to fix it 3 Fridays in a row and never came and never called. I am still calling them but now of course they know my number and don't pick up. I thank God it wasn't a larger job I hired them for. They are not reputable and they do not stand by their work or their word. GO elsewhere

I find it very difficult to write this review, because the owner is such a pleasant person. But this is about the work.
We had 3 damages blue stone steps and one that had come loose - this was the scope of work.
We got a proposal for 1650$ (I must admit that we didn't shop around, I just didn't have the time at that stage) and, reading all the great reviews, just wanted to get the job done well.
The crew was on time and set up by the owner who then left. The work involved two sets of steps and all in all 3 wooden railings were involved (needed to be removed and reinstalled).
When the work was done, the owner had come back in the meantime and we did the walk-through. I noticed right away that something was wrong with the 2 steps that had been replaced infront of our front door - they looked 'off'. I mentioned it and was told they were ok. So we measured and sure enough there was a difference in depth (from left to right) of nearly an inch! The width of the gap/grout between the step and the wall behind should have been a give-away, but it obviously wasn't noticed while the work was performed (lack of attention to detail). The same issue was the case with the one step that had been replaced at the back of the house. All three steps stuck out on the right side (between 0.5 to 1 inch). What I didn't appreciate was that when I mentioned these issues, they first tried to tell me that it was 'ok' (which it obviously wasn't), and only when I insisted that it was not ok (it was very noticeable even without measuring!), they reluctantly agreed to try and fix the issue. Things can go wrong, but I expect that whoever caused an issue owns up and fixes it. Of course the railings had been reinstalled in the meantime, so they didn't want to start over and instead pushed and hammered the steps in place (which didn't fill me with a lot of confidence as I a was a. told not to step on the steps until completely dry, so disturbing the curing-process by pushing the step around cannot be good either and b. it didn't result in perfect alignment, but just improved the situation). As for the step that needed to be reset, the crew did the grout very half-heartedly and unevenly. It looked very rough and uneven and when I mentioned it, they said they would take care of it, but in the end only smoothed out 2/3 of the grout (not the the whole line - again, lack of attention to detail), which now results in a color difference.
I want to mention that they did something extra for me (resetting 3 big stones that had collapsed in the little stream that runs past our house) while part of the crew fixed the step variation issue.
Still, I don't think that the quality of work was good and the price was quite high (especially for the quality provided). The railings were put back on but have quite some gaps now and need to be fixed (yes, we expected repainting them, but the work needed is much more).
 

I contacted owner operator Victor Fernandez to provide a quote on some significant masonry work which included removing, regrading and replacing an old cement walkway and a small raised cement patio on the side and back of the house.  Victor  showed up on time, listened attentively to what I needed done and provided excellent design ideas about how best to complete the job.  He provided references along with a fair quote which I subsequently agreed to.  We agreed on a date for completing the work and Victor showed  up as planned with a crew of 4 workers to begin the demo work.  I made it clear to Victor that properly grading of the walkway and patio was critical since we occasionally dealt with rain water runoff from sever thunderstorms. This element of the work was done with lot of care and turned out very well. Despite 95+ degree weather the entire week, the crew worked diligently for 4 consecutive days to complete what turned out to be a lovely and functional walkway and patio. The low stone retaining wall (Victor's suggestion) was both practical and an especially nice landscaping design touch. Victor was on site regularly to oversee the work but all of the workmen were skilled masons who clearly knew their stuff.   During the job, Victor noticed several cracks in the house foundation which he agreed to fix at no additional charge. His team also patched a small section of the cement garage floor without charge. Victor and his entire crew were a pleasure to work with.  Upon completion of the work they did an excellent job cleaning up and leaving the grounds in great shape.  I would highly recommend Fernandez and Sons and would not hesitate to use them again for any and all masonry work.

Victor Fernandez answered my email within a few hours and scheduled an appointment to come out and look at the job within a few days.  He showed up on-time and was very professional and pleasant.  He gave me a price on the spot and when I added on some additional work he did it at no additional cost. I sent him a deposit check two days later and he scheduled the work for the following Monday. His crew showed up at 7:00 AM on Monday and worked the entire day until the concrete was poured.  They came back  two days later and built the supports for the columns and then finished the job on Friday. The work was done exactly as described and the finished product is beautiful.
The great thing about Victor is his responsiveness. Whenever I emailed him I always got a reply within hours and my requests/concerns were addressed by the end of the day.  My experience with Victor was so good I just just hired him to do an additional $7,400.00 landscaping job.  This fellow is a real gem.

We wanted to do some little updates in our garden, align the stones in the front walk way, extend our driveway and the most important place a concrete screed under our deck. The contractor was at our home quickly and as often as needed to discuss the options and set a quote. We set the work during our week of vacation without supervision and when we came back everything was done properly.

Excellent service and followup.  Did the work on time and as promised.

With great difficulty, and finding themselves with the need to call others to assist with freeing the plow truck from an incline off the main drive, the team worked to free my drive and parking area of the thick over-coating of ice. Victor was courteous throughout, and determined to make it so we could come and go, and make the surface less hazardous for the addition of new snow. This plowing cost $390 for all called in to assist, which was a lot for us, but understandable and necessary.



|The second time we called Victor was on the day after the incoming storm mentioned above. Again, they came quickly and plowed well, clearing the drive and lot for $175, which is about what I expected, and which was agreed to beforehand.



|The third time was in response to our call to help us get out of the drive after the township plows had moved snow from the public street and blocked our drive in the process.  We agreed to a price of $75 to clear only the last few feet of the driveway, which seemed a lot to us - but apparently small jobs are more costly because at least one assistant has to be assembled, and all driven to the site.



|Victor and his company were always responsive, came as quickly as possible, saw what the problems were and addressed them. They were professional and polite.   We certainly will use them in the future, although I must say I hope it will not be for further plowing this year.



|We do have other work that needs doing on the grounds, and we will call Victor when we begin to plan and estimate this work.

I called for an estimate and received a return call the same day to set an appointment. Even though it was a small job, the owner himself came to the property at a time when I would be available to meet with him in person - his preference, so that he would be clear on exactly what I wanted. Victor was extremely professional and personable, taking time to discuss the project and the potential problems that might change the estimate (damaged Belgium block that may or may not need to be replaced, and possible blacktop repair if the old concrete was under the edge of the driveway). At the end of the visit, he gave me a detailed estimate. Needless to say, I was very impressed! Even though it was a small job, Victor took the time needed to make sure we were on the same page and all my questions were answered. In total I got 4 estimates; Fernandez & Sons price was in the middle but hands-down was the most prompt, had the best rapport and was most thorough in our initial contact. The work was scheduled a week later, completed exactly as discussed, on time and with no complications. The crew was as professional and personable as the owner; the clean-up was as good as the quality of their work (they even raked the little stone chips off the surrounding lawn and wiped the dust off the mailbox!).

Victor's crew did an excellent job and exceeded my expectation on the steps and on the wall by replacing the loose bricks and pointing the surrounding bricks with mortar. I would recommend Fernandez and Sons and employ them again whenever i needed masonry work done.

The work started promptly after the design was settled and proceeded without delay or any problems. I received prompt responses from the office and job photos were mailed to me when the job was done. They did a good job and i would use them again. Working at a distance requires a lot of extra communication and they were responsive to my need for information by returning calls and e-mails promptly. I appreciated this very much.

very nice guy. was very convincing that he did work of the highest quality. the job consisted of removing coping tiles the were cracked or broken from around my pool. I purchased the stones and he was nice enough to pickup on his way to the job at no additional cost. he wasn't here during the repair, 2 other guys did the work. in the end some of the repaired tiles were higher then the surrounding ones or had more gap under them. I reviewed with the boss and told him I didn't think they were installed right and wanted them fixed. he said they were good. I picked him for he pitch that his work quality was worth the extra cost. In the end I was disappointed in the work.

Their pricing policy is not good at all. Their contract for lawn mowing is charged by the month not by the amount of cuts. When there are 5 cuts they charge me extra but when they miss one because of weather I do not get a break on the amount. I had one month last year that I only had one cut but got charged for 4. Their overall quality was fine though.

The job went very well.  I was satisfied with their work.  I thought they tried to push me to do some things that I didn't want to do.  But, what they ultimately did was fine.
