Tom was thorough and provided me with a detailed explanation of what he was doing from start to finish. We were dealing with a difficult seller who was attempting to rush us. Tom did not miss a detail and offered suggestions for future home improvement projects. At the end of the inspection, I felt confident in the process and would refer Select Inspections to anyone in need of a professional job.
I received a detailed 52 page report within 72 hours and had absolutely no questions because Tom had already explained everything. The report was delayed by 24 hours due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
I plan to use Select Home Inspections again for my next home purchase.

First let me start by saying when Tom returned my telephone call he was professional and explained everything that he would do and explained the cost for any additional testing (such as radon) that I might want.  We set up a date and time and he was punctual.  The property that I am purchasing is through a government home buying company called NACA, and, as any government agency, they require an extreme amount of paper work.  Tom was very familiar with the NACA process and able to submit his report within the NACA framework and guidelines.  Now, let's move on to the inspection itself.  Tom was beyond thorough with his inspection.  The property that I am purchasing has no attic entrance, therefore, he was not able to access the roof through the house.  New Jersey code states that no roof higher than 11 feet need be inspected by a home inspector.  My roof was 36 feet off the ground.  Tom took his ladder, put it out the second floor window onto the roof of the neighboring house and climbed up to check my roof and chimney. I was amazed that he did that.  Not only was he able to give me a report on my roof, he was also able to tell me that the chimney needed to be repaired. He tested EVERY ELECTRICAL OUTLET.  He took off the electrical panel plates to check the interior wiring, checked the baseboards in the basement for moisture, he opened EVERY WINDOW, and while doing all of this, he took the time to answer EVERY QUESTION THAT I HAD.  He was not condescending.  He answered my questions with patience and honesty, and added humor to make a long process go as smoothly as possible.  The entire process took approximately 3 hours, but it was a very informative 3 hours.   Buying a home may be the biggest purchase you will ever make.  I recommend you spend a few extra dollars and hire a company that will work for YOU and let you know the true condition of the property you will be paying for over the next 15 - 30 years.  I recommend this company highly and if anyone I know decides to purchase a home, I will certainly give them his business card.
