Ellis was responsive, courteous, prompt, professional, tidy, fair and communicative throughout the entire process- even during their busy season when temps were in the 90's. David, Dan and Eric were great technicians who truly take pride in the work they do. They delivered on everything they promised and we really appreciated being updated daily on the progress of the project which had some unusual challenges that they gladly worked through with ease. The job went very smoothly which isn't something that always happens when working with other companies. We would recommend Ellis without hesitation for any HVAC or plumbing needs.

Very nice family owned company.   I've used them number of times. They can come out very quickly in case of emergency (heater broken in cold winter).  They do quality job and are very experienced to find the problem quickly.    One time I had a problem heater which they could not reproduce, after they left it happened again the next day, they came out 2nd time and fixed the problem but only charged me for one visit.  They are not the cheapest, but do quality work which is very important.   Would highly recommend

After a couple of false starts due to providers heavy workload, Dan came out and first did an inspection. We had never had oil heat before and he explained everything to us. He thoroughly inspected all the pipes in the house (1000 sq feet) and replaced piping in several locations both in basement and house, where there was leaking. The job turned out to be much larger than expected and actually took 3 days to complete. This is an older home built on 1950 that sat empty for 2 years. Apparently pipes had frozen and burst in several places. Dan was wonderful, explaining everything as he did it. Very knowledgeable and professional.

Two weeks after purchasing our first home, we had a toilet in our ground floor backing up even after the water supply had been turned off.  We called Albert Ellis, and within 15 minutes Ed arrived.  He was fantastic.  He diagnosed the problem quickly and got right to work, running a snake up the line from the vent in our front yard.  As a new homeowner, I had a lot of questions and Ed patiently and completely answered all of them.  Can't praise him highly enough.

Price was competitive with others.  Quote took a long time to receive, and I had to email to get it. I hired someone with similar pricing that has done good work in the past.

Arrived on time. All staff friendly and professional. Responsive to any questions or concerns that I had.

Line was quite deep and water table high, so quite a muddy job for them. Took 3 days to complete.

Kept the plumbing in house working as needed. Cleaned up yard and replaced grass.

Have also used this company for repairs inside the house. Always easy to reach and set up appointments.

After several calls and no call backs we gave up. If he was too busy at least he could have called back and said so instead of leaving us hanging. Very unprofessional way of doing business

Everything went great. The person that came out was very friendly and was able to come the same day I called. They fixed the clog in less than a hour and gave me tips on how not to have it happen again.

Albert Ellis, Inc. replaced my mothers forced air heater with a top of the line Bryant 95% efficient unit on 12-2-10.

About 13 days later she heard a funny noise coming from the heater, upon inspection she realized it was the humidifier that was making the noise so she unplugged it. Then she called me to check it out.

Here is what I found:

They Did not install a switched outlet for the existing humidifier, (this was how it was wired when they installed the previous Bryant heater over 10 years ago) (instead they plugged it in to the outlet for the condensate pump that is on all the time, as a result the humidifier ran 24/7 until the motor over heated and started making noise!

I also called Aprilaire, the mfg of this humidifier. They confirmed that their humidifier should be plugged into a switched outlet or wired so that it will only run when the heater runs and to let them know if Albert Ellis, Inc. (their dealer) didn’t make it right.

Then I Called Bryant they also said if Albert Ellis, Inc. didn’t correct the faulty installation that I could open a case against them and they would investigate it.

So far I have not done that but will take that action very soon if they don’t

When I first called (12-15-10) they tried to tell me in so many words I didn’t know what I was talking about. They said they would send some one out to look at it. No one came. So on (12-28-10) I called again and they did send some one out, as of 1-5-11 she has heard nothing. My mother also called a few times.

Up Date:

A service man from Ellis finally came out at the end of January to correct the wiring.

Instead of wiring in a switched 110 volt outlet they ran a switched 24 volt line to the humidifier’s control unit located in the return air duct. (this is what they should have done when they replaced the heater.)

The unit ran fine for a few days then started making the same noise; my mom called them up but has heard nothing since!

I called Aprilaire on 2-8-11 and was told that if they got 2 more complaints’ like mine they would drop Albert Ellis, Inc. web site from theirs.

If I had not inspected this issue for my mom she (and most customers that are not familiar with HVAC systems) would have call the installer and said my new heater is making a funny noise. The installer would come out and say gee Mrs. or Mr. Customer, you need a new humidifier! That will be around $ 700.00 installed! Who knows if the installer would quietly correct the incorrect wiring when they installed the new humidifier or not!

Yes this humidifier is old but I had oiled the motor last year and it was running fine and VERY quite. These humidifiers are very well built here in the USA and known to run for many years if properly maintained and installed.

The replacement heater my mother bought from Albert Ellis, Inc. cost $4000.00 dollars installed!

There response to our complaint is terrible!

Installing a top of the line Bryant heater and incorrectly wiring an existing humidifier is completely inexcusable as is their response to our complaints!

At this point I want Albert Ellis, Inc. to replace the Aprilaire model 445 with a new equal model like the 600!

3-2011 Update:

My mother has since called another HVAC Co and had a new humidifier installed at a cost of around $600.00. She was also told by this installer that the PVC vent pipes did not need to be replaced at additional charge just more make work…

She said she would never use Albert Ellis, Inc. again.

I called Aprilaire on 3-18-11, They said they would notify their “DSM” District Sales Manager to let them know of my complaint.

I also called Bryant and filed my complaint with them.

Maybe if they at least admitted some fault and said look we screwed up, your humidifier is old so we will install one for 50% off or some thing to take care of a customer that just spent $ 4000.00 on a new heater! But no, nothing but a run around for a customer (my mom) that has been using them for many years.

They are a very reliable plumbing company and we know we can count on them to show up when they say they will. Their work is clean, effective, efficient and they clean up after themselves nicely every time. We know them to be one of the businesses around that we can count on each and every time we call. We highly recommend them.

Plumber came on time on the day scheduled. Removed tile and drywall around the rough-in. He was surprised that we had PVC water pipes but called back to the main office and received advise and supplies he did not have on his truck. He removed the old rough-in and replaced it. He had some difficulty due to differences in the units but did a nice job overall. He returned on time on the day scheduled after new tile was installed and installed the faucet, shower head, and drain. He had a difficult time with the drain due in part to the lack of an access panel. Both jobs were completed in the time estimated. After he left we notices a water leak on the first floor ceiling under the drain. He returned immediately, cut a small hole behind the tub, and discover the drain was leaking. He removed, replaced a cracked gasket, replaced the drain and thoroughly tested for leaks. Since then, the shower and drain have worked perfectly with no leaks. Other than the drain leak which was immediately repaired, my only complaint is visible teflon tape on a nice bronze shower head. I was able to easily correct that but to me it's a little sloppy for a $1000 job. Both the plumber who did the work and the people who schedule the service were friendly, knowledgeable, and totally professional.

I am a very long time customer. We have used them for heating, air-conditioning and plumbing work and they have always done an excellent job. They are very clean, dependable and are a good business. Their prices are a little higher than others, but you never have to call them back because they do the job right the first time.
