Once in my CT location, I was informed by the team crew leader that my marble table top had broken in transit. He refused to take the marble top out of the truck so I did not see it after it was moved. I have no idea if it was split in two or in pieces. He said he needed it in order to get an exact replacement made and that someone from the office would call me back immediately the next morning to give me an update on when a replacement would be ready. At the end of the move, in good faith, I paid the full cost on my actual invoice which was several hundred dollars over the estimate. The invoice was signed by the team crew leader and my check was cashed. I didn’t get a call the next morning as promised regarding the replacement of my broken marble tabletop. Instead, I had to contact the owner when he returned from vacation one week later. After I was told by the owner that the claim I submitted was being reviewed, I received another note from him stating I owed an additional 1.5 hours in travel cost = $270 for movers to return to NJ after the move and my claim wouldn’t be processed until I paid an additional $270. I was told that this cost was in my estimate. However, this cost wasn’t stated in the estimate or the actual invoice. When I questioned the charge, I was told to look at the brochure where additional travel cost may apply. Even in the brochure, it didn’t state there was travel cost after the move. Needless to say the owner is not handling this issue in a professional manner. 1) He informed me that the team crew leader had no authority to settle claims and didn’t stand by the team crew leader’s promise. 2) He shouldn’t have asked me to pay more money based on an estimate that in total comes to less than the actual bill. The broken marble top was clearly due to negligence on the mover’s part. 1) It wasn’t packed properly. 2) It was not placed properly in the truck. If it were laid flat this could not have happened. It had to have been placed on its side in order to fall. I chose this company because it is advertised as a family owned business with 30 plus years of experience. But the family doesn’t manage or perform the move, sub-contractors do. When my issue occurred the owner’s son who was in the office at the time, was not prepared to address it so I had to wait for the owner to return from vacation. It’s a month since my move and I’m still waiting for the owner to process my claim. If I had to do it over again, I would have chosen HMS – Home Moving Solutions in Paramus. They are $50/ hours cheaper, no hidden costs, the estimate was right on target and the guy who came to do the estimate would have supervised the move. No bait and switch.

The move went very well.  I was allocated two men and a truck, but on moving day three movers were there, no extra charge.  They meticulously labelled every item with a numbered sticker and cataloged each one on a carbon copy sheet before a single item was placed on the truck.  They worked fast and with extreme care.  When move-in day came everything was brought promptly on time and once again they worked fast.  They unloaded everything and put my bed back together.  The only item that was "damaged" was my garbage bin.  One of the wheels was missing, but that was my fault for not taping it securely to the bottom of the container since it would be going to storage for a while.  Nothing else was misplaced or broken.
I had absolutely no complaints and thought about using them again for my current move.  Unfortunately, they are based in NJ so there would have been a "travel fee' added to the cost which did not seem worth it this time.

They were just incredible.  They didn't damage anything.  It was a 4 hour move they quoted us, and they got everything done in that 4 hours.

I've used this company two times before my most recent move. I won't be using them again in the future. The owner came to my house about a month before my scheduled move date to give me an estimate. After showing him everything that would have to be moved and explaining the specifics about the place I will be moving into; he gave me a very reasonable estimate of $700.00. I made it very clear that on the day of the move, the truck should not arrive before 9:00am, because they would block my neighbor into the driveway. The day before the move, the office called me to confirm all the information for the moving day, including the time of arrival, which again I was insistent that they should not arrive before 9:00am. At 8:15 am, 45 minutes before they were supposed to arrive, they pulled up. They logged-in the start time of the move at 8:30 am. Three men were in one truck, the driver was what one could only describe as "LAZY." One a few occasions, my boyfriend and I were wondering where the movers where when I went outside to find them, they were literally sitting in the truck (on my furniture and boxes) hanging out and talking to each other. Once they started unloading the truck at the new place, my boyfriend and I noticed that only one of the men was making repeat trips up to our apartment alone. We hadn't seen the other two movers in almost an hour. I went downstairs and caught on of them sitting in the lobby of my building- on the sofa, talking on his cell phone!! I looked at him with an expression so as to say, "What the heck are you doing!!?" He got off the phone and went outside to get some things to bring up. When the foreman/driver tallied up our bill, he added an extra half an hour to the log-in time and an extra half and hour to the finish time; sure, it may have been 2:30 when he wrote up the bill- but they were sitting around for half an hour doing nothing since before 2:00. This added an extra hour ($150) to the bill. I won't be using Booth Movers in the future, nor will I suggest them to any of my friends anymore. The good points I can mention about the service is that the office staff and the owner are nice and the movers didn't break anything.

The day they removed items from my home, nothing was put in storage containers. When I asked them to wrap things I was ignored. They did promise to wrap the items upon arrival at their warehouse. That was a lie. They jammed the truck so full, with my beautiful items haphazardly thrown in and unsecured. Upon completion they tore out with rakes hanging out the windows. Moving day arrived with 3 men rushing in and out. No chance to check anything out. A supervisor stopped in with a camera of mine in hand that had fallen onto the loading dock. They jacked up the price, DEMANDED I immediately sign the release and quickly left. Nearly half my furniture was damaged, the backs and tops bashed in and many items lost. Booth shrugged it off. Owner, Doug Padla, was rude and condescending. I had estimates of nearly $6,000 in damages alone, and after months of haggling with their insurance co, Vanliner, I collected only $2,600. A shoddy, abusive, and unprofessional company that needs investigating.
