They broke the job into two sections - because of a scheduling problem and our insistence that the house be protected from falling limbs should a storm hit, while we were away during the last week in August and the first few weeks of September. They agreed (McHale)to do the first part (trim around the house)in August and then part two - a large oak tree removal and other major tree pruning rest of property in September. However, first leg of the work was confined to the back of our home. Then in between a storm struck and (via long distance when our house-sitter called) we had to get our gardeners/weekly landscapers to remove the debris from the front of our home since access to our home was compromised by large fallen limbs; an additional charge of 900.00 dollars (McHale later adjusted their original quote from 11,750.+ to 11,000. to compensate for that cost - a fair thing to do!). McHale, the primary contractor who subcontracts to Garrison, saw that the next leg of the work done was complete and well-supervised, by Brennan. Do note: all work including the work done in the first part was done so that no to damage property; it was done in an efficient and professional manner. However, as a result of Sandy, we lost large pines and back of our home experienced damage from a fallen oak tree. Wish we had known that the oak, which was pruned, should have been removed also. We are at the mercy of the arborists and really need to give their candid opinion. Arborists have to measure the hollowness of trees. Perhaps they fear that the cost would scare us away ... if we know, then we can make an educated opinion. The oak that fell on our patio, back overhanging roof, fence, gutters and new grill was hollow! We have no electricity and it's now 14 days ... but we are well. I don't know how to give these arborists the courage ... but we have to know. Anyway, we will rebuild ... we are Americans!!!
