I have used them three times so far. First in 2010 to move from Tarrytown in NY to Hudson county in NJ, then in 2012 from Hudson county to Bergen county and then last week from one town in Bergen to another. Actually I had a good experience with all my moves and that is why I am a repeat customer. But now I am scratching my head as to why there are quite a number of negative reviews here.
They were good on all fronts: quote and estimate, care and most importantly speed of work. During the second move in 2012, it took 10 hours with 3 men: 6 hours at old place (because of a very long passage in the apt complex) and 3 hours at new place and I felt really bad for the movers because that day was very hot (it was 100 degrees something, unseasonal for June 1 week) but even at 6 pm they were moving fast. I tipped each of them generously for their hard work.
Most recent move last week with four men took 5.5 hours and not a thing broken. My basement staircase got a minor dent or two but I am okay because the tall elliptical was a beast to move.
"I am shocked to hear this since it has been over a year since the move took place & this is the first we are hearing of any missing items or dissatisfaction with the crew. United undergoes drug & alcohol screening along with full criminal background checks for all employees so again I am shocked to hear any negative claims made against the crew. Moving is a busy time with many different people in different professions coming in & out of your home. We at Wade Odell Wade are very careful who we hire & who we allow to enter into one's home. We take the utmost care in serving all our customers & treat their homes as we would our own. If this had been brought to our attention once the issue arose we would have dealt with it immediately."
Horribly this company should be shut down ASAP! They are thieves and don't care about your property!
"It is truly unfortunate to read a baseless review such as this one. I personally performed the estimate for this move. Unfortunately, the customer would not accompany me while inventorying their house as I requested. I had the following remark on the quote left with the customer" Customer plans to move pictures, lamps, clothes, and boxes (except 40). If we end up moving those items, we will have to load one day, deliver the next. ". When the crew arrived the job was much larger than indicated to me the day of the estimate. The customer had not moved the items or boxes as promised. Rather than walk away and leave the customer in a difficult situation, we proceeded with the move. This involved more time and therefore additional expense. Our philosophy at WOW is to give an accurate estimate with no surprises. I personally take the time to discuss pricing with each and every customer I meet with. We want each customer to understand how they can save money as well as what additional services will incease the cost of the move. Our crews are professionals.
