Let me start by saying this: if you have the opportunity to work with Glenn as your GC, and you choose to go with someone else, you are crazy! I could not imagine anyone doing a better job, and his pricing was absolutely competitive with everyone else we received quotes from. Glenn has been working with all of his subcontractors (plumbing, electric, flooring, HVAC, drywallers, etc) for many years, and has a crew of regular full-timers. All of them work quickly, to a very high level of quality, and are courteous and conscientious as well. Glenn also his on-site every day and runs an EXTREMELY tight ship. Materials arrive onsite and and are used same-day. Glenn also worked seamlessly with contractors that we hired directly (e.g., painters, carpeting installers, closet installers). All of this translates into hitting the deadlines. Glenn said he's start breaking ground on the foundation on August 19. He started on August 19. He said that -- barring unforeseen delays, like weather or and quot;homeowner indecisionand quot;-- he'd have us back in by New Year's Day. He beat that estimate by over 2 weeks! And all of the work was done to an extremely high level of quality. Glenn manages the work very closely, and he insists on doing things the right way, often doing things himself. Example: one Saturday morning around 11am, we came by the house to check on progress. Glenn had no idea we'd be there, and he comes careening into our driveway and darts into the house holding two red bricks. and quot;Oh Hi Mike,and quot; he says. and quot;I have to get the order in for the bricks for he extension to the chimney and the masonry yard closes in 30 minutes. I wanted to match the color as closely as possible to the existing chimney.and quot; I joined him as he climbed out under a tarp, shined a flashlight on the bricks, and we chose the right one. Then off he went to order the bricks. At noon on a Saturday. I was like and quot;this is my kind of guyand quot;.
Glenn also helps you think through the more nuanced design points that don't always present themselves in your construction plans. For example, placement of gutters, where should light switches go, which ways should the doors swing, what type of moulding is the right balance of style vs cost.
Glenn is also very transparent and fair with add-ons and changes to scope. This is very important because a lot of GC's will and quot;low balland quot; their initial bids and then nickel and dime you with every little change along the way. Glenn does not do this, and if additional, unexpected work is needed that has a cost impact, he takes the time to bring it to your attention, to explain the situation, and to offer several alternatives with their associated cost impacts. So did we over-run versus out intended spend? Yes, but I can honestly say that every uptick was our own doing, and Glenn was fair and reasonable with everything.
Also, Glenn is just a great guy -- very personable and friendly, good sense of humor, and constructive when hurdles arose. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Glenn's flexibility. We financed the renovation in large part through a renovation loan with Wells Fargo. The bank's rigorously controlled disbursement protocol meant that there was a lag in payments, as each major step of the construction required inspection by the bank before funds would be released. Glenn was patient and understanding with this and was an advocate through the whole process; in fact, he met personally with the bank inspector each time to make sure everything went smoothly.
I could go on and on with positives, with zero negatives, but I'm sure you get the idea at this stage. To sum it all up, if you want your renovation done to a high level of quality, on time (or early!!), and on budget, Glenn is your man. Thanks Glenn!!!!

We interviewed several contractors for the project. A process that takes some time, but is a must. During our interview process we felt that Glenn, at Glen Rock Construction was the best fit for our project, personality and budget). He was not the most expensive, nor the least expensive, but his estimate included high quality products, so we were getting value for what we were paying for. Glenn was a perfectionist so we really did not have to and quot;micro manageand quot; the project. If there was an issue, one call to Glenn, and he had it resolved the next day.

He was....wait for it...so on schedule! We actually delayed him, because we were not ready in our laundry room with some fixtures. But when the fixtures came in, he came back months later and installed them for us. I only had to call him once to get it scheduled.

Everything was fair in the process. If we wanted to add something, he would provide us a written estimate first, so there were no surprises. He crew was awesome and respectful during the process.

If you are considering a project, I would definately recomend giving Glenn a call.

THEY GOT THE JOB DONE IN THE TIMEFRAME THAT THEY GAVE ME WHEN THEY STARTED. I WAS AMAZED WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY DID A GREAT JOB WITH EVERYTHING. I HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED THEM TO OTHERS. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH ANYTHING.

THIS COMPANY DID EVERY THING THAT WE WANTED DONE. THEY STAYED CLOSE TO THEIR ESTIMATE AND WERE EXCELLENT IN THEIR WORK. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS COMPANY.
