The brother of this contractor works with my wife. Don?t ever believe the promises of a contractor! Get everything in writing. This contractor made many promises when he started the job, but when it came to doing them he claimed he never made these promises. I kept hearing ?I have to do a good job my brother works with your wife.? Well he did not do a good job and his brother really doesn?t care what kind of job he did! By the end of this job all I wanted was Lou DeMedici to get off my property and out of my life. If you want a contractor that hires installers who are more interested in doing a quick and incomplete job this is your contractor. Lou was a smooth talker and acted like a real nice person when he wanted the job but he turned into a short tempered person who constantly argued and cursed at his workers and customer and go as far as calling your home ?A S*** House? when he got angry at me the home owner. I would let him use my tools at the beginning of the job because he would not bring his own and if he said he had to go get his tools he would disappear for three or four hours leaving his workers alone to do whatever they wanted. If you would try to tell the workers something they would either act like they did not understand English or really didn?t. This job was nothing but aggravation right from the start! Because I have a two German Shepherds I asked my contractor to make sure he gave me a warning before he or his crew would show up so I could put my dogs in a room on the opposite side of the house that they would be working on. When Lou DeMedici left on Friday he told me that the tear off crew would be working on the left side on Monday morning and that he gave them my cell phone number to notify me about the time they would show up.On Monday morning the tear off crew shows up. No phone call. They proceed to start tearing off the siding. They claim they forgot their tarps. I call Lou, he claims he is stuck in traffic will be on site in 15 minutes. Thirty minutes later Lou shows up. Tear off crew has destroyed a planting box and most of my Raspberry and Blueberry bushes I had planted that summer. This crew was more interested in collecting the scrap aluminum than they were putting back the downspouts for the gutters. Of course Lou was long gone at this point. I had to try to put they downspouts up the best I could because it rained for the next two days. I only go up on ladders if it is necessary because I am a handicapped Vietnam Veteran and have of both hips. My wife and I were in the street with flashlights cleaning up the tear-off rubbish that was left in the street in front of my neighbors house. On a Saturday when the weather was questionable he was suppose to let me know if the crew was going to show up so I could put my dogs away. I went out that morning to do some shopping with my wife and received a call that the crew was at my house and working. They had arrived long before Lou got there. So much for the promise he would be at the worksite at all times. I rushed home and confronted the contractor. When I said something about not being called Lou got angry (His normal reaction) and walked off the job leaving his workers. The front awning was suppose to have pieces added to it to lower it before the aluminum capping was installed. Because he left this was never installed an I had to spend another $800 to add spandrels to the awning to lower it. Of course he claimed he was never going to install these pieces even thought they were cut the day before with my power tools and were sitting in my yard. That is just a few of the problems, many things promised were never completed. I was promised a concrete ramp to the raised concrete slab for the new attached work shed. That is the work shed that the roof is leaking. Lou came back twice to fix that roof and it still leaks. I called him to let him know it was still leaking around Christmas. He told me he was on vacation and would get back to me upon his return. I haven?t heard from him again. I have been told a by a roofer that a rubber gasket should have been installed between the house and the beam attached to the house for the roof of the shed. I have my table saw and all my tools on one side of the shed because of the leak in the roof and the electrical wiring, insulation and sheet rock cannot be done. A few of the other problems are a large hole in the siding where the cables enter the house. No gutter on the awning on the side of the house. When the snow melts it runs onto the side step and is destroying the concrete and freezes causing a sheet of ice on the steps on warm days the rain runns off the roof and onto you exit the back door. The trim used was inferior to the Azek that was in the contract and the edges have a black tint. This was supposed to be fixed by sanding. The sander I gave his ?helper? to try to remove the black was left sitting on the ground and never used. He told me he would get his brother to come and paint the faux Azek but experiencing the work that Lou does I didn?t want his brother (who has a painting business on the side) anywhere near my house. I was also told that real or knock off Azek shouldn?t be painted during the winter season. Every few days I have another problem. Last Sunday after the heavy snow started to melt water started to pour into my living room over the bay window. I had to use multiple towels and bowls to catch it and clean it up. I had just paid to have my living room painted and molding finished and installed around the window. The painting and plastering was done two days before the leak. The aluminum capping that was installed under the new gutters was never caulked. Now my new paint is water stained and the plaster has cracked. All Lou was interested in was getting his next payment and he couldn?t get away from this job fast enough. He always complained about his money problems. When he got his last check he and his ?helper? got out of here so fast he left a pile of his construction garbage sitting at the curb. He told me he would take it with him. I had to carry it back to the side of my house and put it out again on trash day. Because he never returned my call to repair the leak in the roof or any of the other problems I have retained a lawyer to have someone from Angie?s list repair all of the problems with this botched job. I should have consulted Angie?s from the start. But then again this contractor is from South Jersey and claimed he was on Angie?s list. I thought that was why he never showed up on my initial search. Another one of his many lies!!!!
Description of Work: Replaced old windows and siding, installed wood awnings front and back doors replaced old shed with new work room on a poured concrete slab.
