Shoreline Kitchens owned by Brian Johnson was hired for a full kitchen gut and cabinets were ordered through him. The person who recommended him to me had his kitchen done several years ago and did not have to experience the current incompetent employees Brain now has working for him. Brian does not oversee the day-to-day work and has no employee capable of doing so. Everyday, expect to have something done incorrectly that needs to be redone. Brian has a very distorted view of how his employees perform compared to what they actually do. I gave up complaining about most things because Brian response was mostly of the attitude that his employees wouldn't do anything wrong. The person he left in charge, JJ, couldn't even put up baseboard molding correctly, was more interested in listening to loud music, watching videos on his phone, was not there the hours Brian was telling me he was working and the first week was complaining to another employee about Brian and how much he hated another employee. Examples of how he could not manage day to day work: The day before the countertops were to be installed (by another company), the main work that had to be done was to install a panel between two appliances to support the countertop and cut the sides on the sink base. Brian told JJ this in the morning before I left. I checked on the work at lunch and neither item was done. When I got home from work, neither item had been done, so Brian had to send someone to my house in the evening. When Brian is not present, expect to get at most 4 hours of work out of them each day. I ended up telling Brian JJ was not allowed to work in my house. If I met JJ when looking for a contractor I never would have hired them and told Brian this the first week. If I had not ordered the cabinets from them and they were just doing the gut and installation, I would have fired them the first week. They don't pay attention to details. Examples: sheet rocked over a vent in the ceiling, sitting the refrigerator on the water line (luckily it did not crack), not checking if a sink leaked when water was left running, not checking that all outlets worked, leaving shelves that didn't have all their pins laying in the cabinets instead of bringing more pins. On their last day Brian came with one employee and everything was suppose to be done. Brain called me to tell me was leaving and that the employee is finishing up. I come home to find the holes in the sheet rock for 2 of 4 power strips had not been filled in, molding around a cabinet put on backwards from how we decided that morning, and none of the nail holes for any of the baseboard or molding around the cabinets covered. When I mention this to Brian he minimizes it and just says - oh the employee didn't cover the nail holes on the molding by the ceiling. They do not clean up or try not to damage your property, contrary to what Brian says. Throughout the renovation, windows were left open every day, doors were left unlocked multiple times (the first day they even knew they left the front door unlocked and instead of calling me so I could ask a neighbor to lock it, they said nothing). I had to clean up all the dust on the walls and ceiling the day the sheet rock was sanded, had to vacuum the sawdust out of the cabinets myself, cups rings every day - including inside the new cabinets, cigarette butts from my garage and driveway , partially full cups/bottles left in the garage and kitchen each day, and they made a hole in a closet wall. They contracted the installation of the floor tile (they only thing done correctly the first time). The installer cleaned up nicely after grouting the tile. In contrast, Brian's employees installed a few tiles that were left until a cabinet was positioned. They tracked grout over the entire area, had large areas of grout spread over 10 feet of hallway walls and even had grout stuck to the ceiling, that I was left to clean up. They have no covered trucks so even though they do interior work, they will cancel due to rain if they need to bring anything to the job site. Regardless of what time Brian says they will start in the morning, you will receive a text from Brian most days after they were already suppose to be there saying they will be late or, at the work progress, nothing at all. What was suppose to be there last day was postponed because it was raining. The day before, Brian told me he would be there all day and that it would likely take more than a day to finish. When he called to cancel and I asked why he didn't come to do part of the work that only needed things that would fit inside the cab of a pickup, he kept replying he wasn't going to pay his employee to drive 25 minutes to my house for half a day and say why he couldn't come like he was suppose given that he had told me it was more than a day's work left. Furthermore, it is not the customer's fault that you don't want to pay your employees for 25 minutes of time or that your employees can't do things correctly the first time and you have to pay them to redo things. Note: I rated them a C for responsiveness. While Brian will usually respond the same day to texts or calls, the problems don't get fixed the next work day or the issues addressed.

Brian the owner showed up as promised gave us a great consultation regarding our kitchen project and provided CAD drawings afterwards. He then followed up to see if we needed to make changes. Very nice genuine guy who sounds like he wants to help you instead of just taking your money and running like most other contractors out there.

Very pleasant person.  Certainly talked the talk. However, when I received the design, it was obviously a computer boilerplate type of design.  Other than dimensions, It did not have details specific to my needs and my kitchen that we talked about.  I think the point from his perspective for this deal is to get one to come in person to his place of business.  For $49 , it was OK.  I probably will go into the shop to discuss further refinements.  But I was disappointed that the product I received was so generic.
Response from Shoreline Kitchen & Design Center Inc
"Sorry You feel it was generic in design the software we use is the industtry standard called 20/20, it is the software that most kitchen showrooms use. As for the $49.99 dollar special I did not make a dime your money went to Angies list. I do not charge for my design time or field measuring of kitrchens. Maybe next time try Lowes or home depot and see what they charge you for the same service"

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. We were not super happy. Twice I sent him an email asking something about the design. He never responded. I sent the same email twice to him so we are just going to call it a scratch. He was very personable and he seemed like a nice guy but I was not very happy that he didn't respond to either email. The design was nice but I had questions and he never got back to me. They came fairly quickly but it didn't do us much good because we didn't have very much contact with them. The price for the Big Deal was great but it was basically a waste of money because we really weren't able to get much out of them.

I worked closely with Brian, owner of Shoreline Kitchen, for nearly a year prior to the beginning of the kitchen work in my home, as earlier remodeling phases needed to get done first.  The CAD drawings of how the kitchen would look were extraordinary, giving me insight on what was feasible in the space I had available, and guided me in the selection of right-sized appliances with an eye to how they would work in the new space.  The samples in Shoreline's showroom were a great help beyond what I saw online, and Brian's recommendations helped me to stay on-budget while getting everything I wanted and more.
Once the time came for implementation, Shoreline's installers were great.  The demo was done very cleanly, as they sealed the kitchen off from the rest of the home to restrict dust from floating through the rest of the home.  Installation went similarly smoothly, with cabinets and shelving installed perfectly level, with clean lines and no corners cut.  Installing the floors, Brian suggested some additional reinforcement (not surprising for a 50+ year-old home), and I have to applaud the attention to the small things which contribute to the overall outcome.  When the time came for the installation of the Corian sink and countertops, the attention to detail was exceptional.  All the components look like a single piece, with no gaps or irregularities showing where they all came together.
Over 5 years later, the kitchen is as beautiful and functional as it was promised to be during our design sessions, and I frequently receive compliments on it.  I wouldn't change a thing about any part of the experience, and gladly recommend Shoreline for jobs large and small.

they where great they started with our blue prints and did the first designs from those. then once the house was framed and dried in they returned to check the actual diamensions. They did find lots of problems and had to redesign most of the rooms we where doing. Once we had the designs ready they then came out and marked all of the floors and walls and met with all of the other trades to discuss all of the details Like plumbing and electrical and other options. We did change the isalnd several times and each time they came out and re drew it to make sure the other trades could change their work to fit our new design. we placed the order and waited for the cabinets to arrive. to be honest the cabinets did arrive 2 days late but that was because of a snow storm we had ( not their fault) the install went very smooth and they even helped with the appliance install to make sure everything was good. they then made templates for our countertops and installed them right on time. They where great to work with they called and always showed up in a timely manner. There work was great and always done with care. they even helped me bring in boxes of lighting fixtures when it was raining out. I cant say enough about them they where truely gentlemen and craftsmen. Thanks for the great job
