Before joining as a sole proprietor of a small business, I was told that this group had regular meetings that were mostly during the day (when I cannot attend) and occasionally in the evenings, that my professional listing would be posted on the website for public access and that I would be able to log into the website as a member. 30 days after paying $225 [through a barter network] to join for the first year, this group had not held any evening meetings nor were any such upcoming meetings posted on the websit, my listing was not posted on the website and I was not provided a password to log into the site. During the first 30 days, I repeatedly e-mailed the contact person about the above, but nothing was done. On day 30, I initiated an e-mail campaign to cancel my membership, but my contact person refused to reverse my barter transaction for a refund. On day 48, my listing was posted (it has since been removed) -- AFTER numerous requests to cancel my membership. My listing has since been removed. Regarding my inability to log in to the site as a member, the contact person e-mailed that "The log in. . .gets put in the first time you go to a boardroom meeting" (which was never available at a time that I could attend). The expectations that I had upon spending the money to join the group were not met. Regarding a refund, the contact person has e-mailed that "I am not going to give you [a refund]" and that "there [are] no refunds for membership."
