Medford Heating And Air came right out and fixed it the same day- Monday. I don't know what a fair price is for this repair so can't answer that. The service man and everyone there was courteous, efficient and professional.

They came on time and added 2 lbs of freon. They literally connected the the freon connectors to the the A/C unit and the freon bottle. It took about 20 minutes. I was then given a price of $393! When I asked about the breakdown they said they charge $90 per pound! The going rate on EBAY is between $10 to $20 per pound. Fine, you can even double that so they can make a profit. Even when you add 90x2 = 180, where is the other $200? for 20 minutes work? Apparently it's their going rate. After a number of phone calls I finally got them down to $200. Still a bit high, but I didn't want to deal with it anymore.
I would not use this company again. Companies need to be clear upfront to all the costs involved and what their going rate is. My mistake for not asking for a detailed breakdown prior to work performed. I figured the Angie's list spacial would have more than covered all the work, lesson learned.
