Hired him in August to do a kitchen remodel. Things did not go well. He put in a set of cabinets backwards (and initially lied about them and then argued with us when we asked that he put them in correctly), put in crown molding upside down (because he thought it looked better—not that he consulted us first), and neglected to do parts of the work that we had asked for. Throughout the process he was argumentative, uncommunicative, and often blamed his workers for errors but made no effort to correct the errors unless we specifically asked for corrections. He walked off the job in October, leaving a partially completed kitchen, and then demanded nearly full payment for a job he didn’t finish. Every subsequent contractor we’ve had in to assess the remaining job has remarked on the poor quality of his workmanship. We are still finding mistakes that need to be fixed (electric outlet pulled out of the wall, toe kick board in wrong spot). If you want a well-done remodel, DO NOT HIRE.

At first, it went really well. Dave was really good at responding to our requests. His staff was really good. The problems began when the job was wrapping up and follow-up requests were basically ignored. When it came to the tiled floor in the kitchen to be sealed, we were told that it had been. However, we noticed that it was picking up a lot of dirt. We had a third party vendor come out to clean our rugs and was given the ok by Dave to have them reseal the floor at his cost. When they looked at the floor, we were told the floor had never been sealed. We made the final payment when the job was nearly completed thinking that he would follow through on last items (inspection by the town for electrical, fix several molding that came apart, and problems with grout in kitchen between counter and backsplash). I wound up contacting the town and making the arrangements for the final inspection. He came back once to fix one of the molding that fell off and said he would return for other problems. In the bathroom, one problem we experienced was a leak that would leak into the family room below. We thought with the total gutting of the bathroom and replacement of entire bathroom this would solve the problem. It didn't, we still get leaks. Also, it appeared that from the tub to the edge of the other wall they used some type of metal brace. It has lead to a rusting of this plate and the need to continually needing to sand this down and resealing and painting this section. So what started as a positive experience turned into a very disappointing ending.
