We were referred to Dr. Floor by a flooring salesperson because we wanted an electric radiant heat system installed under the Bruce wood flooring we recently purchased. We were warned that there would be issues with language differences (since Mr. An's first language is not English), but we were assured that he was very nice and not to worry about it. He came down and gave us an estimate for materials (excluding the flooring itself, which we had already purchased) and labor which came to $6000 for 2 adjoining 15x15 rooms. He said that the work would take 2 days, and requested that we pay him in cash--half up front for materials, half upon completion. When install day arrived and he did not call or show up, I called him. He said that he was "very busy" and that the underlay product had not arrived so he could only start the electrical work and would finish the rest when he had time, as he was "very busy." I had already boarded my pets and paid for movers and an on-site storage pod. After talking it over, we decided to tell him to forget it, and we are having the floor installed without heat. As it happens, the floor installer we're using now was stunned to see that Mr. An was not going to put down a sub-floor/plywood layer on our bouncy old floor, and he believes that it would have ruined the wires in a heated underlay very quickly. We're sad that we probably won't have a floor before Christmas, but relieved that we escaped a potentially poor installation of a very expensive floor heat system.
Description of Work: Mr. An came measured the rooms where we wanted the heated floor. He did not ask to see the electrical setup in the basement, but did ask where we wanted the floor heat control box to go.
