Remarkable Renovations LLC

We spent almost a half a million dollars on this remodel. We relied on the owner and general contractor of the company because we were out of town. During construction, they mistakenly removed a structural load bearing wall from the basement. This has caused the entire house to shift...as the load shifted. We now have cracked marble floors, separating wood floors and wood floors totally bowed and sloping, cracks in most of the walls, separation of molding from ceiling and walls, doors and door frames slanted, doors unable to close, (doors look like they are slanting sideways like in a fun house). When confronted with the deteriorating condition of the house, the owner of Remarkable Renovations just laughed and said it was normal shifting...and just to paint over the cracks. Finally, we hired three different engineers to look at the house. They confirmed our worst fears. The house was, indeed shifting, and needed extensive repairs. All three engineers gave us the same report: a load bearing wall had been removed from the basement (for no apparent reason) and the load had now shifted and caused the house to start leaning...causing all the cracks, etc. Again we went to Debbi, the owner of the company and our general contractor. This time, when confronted with the engineer reports, she told us to speak with her lawyer and insurance company. Now we are left with a house that needs expensive and extensive repairs and a long legal battle ahead with her insurance company who tells us Debbi says it wasn't her fault. Really...then who took out the wall, elves? Anyone can make a mistake. However, to not own up to the mistake and offer to correct it is dishonest and bad business. If Remarkable Renovations would have acknowledged the mistake and made the repairs, I would not be writing this negative review. To add insult to injury, The owner of Remarkable Renovations, was remodeling her own house at the same time as mine. Accordingly, workers often didn't show up for weeks and or days at a time, and we were two months behind schedule. Our neighbor finally called us to tell us days and weeks went by, and no workers were present. I would not recommend Remarkable Renovations. Half a million dollars later, we are left with a house that needs about 150,000 minimum in repairs.
