"[Member Name Removed] i apologized i'm only one job at a time other contracts were signed, there for i was ready to meet 4 weeks early we could not meet. then time past work has been busy. i look at schedule for this week i realized i can't committee. all work is performed by me and 1-2 employees, this way the quality is still performed. Im sorry Randy"
The bathroom was like a rotten onion, every layer peeled back revealed more problems. Due to the extent of the work needed the whole process took about 4 months. Throughout the process Randy was communicative, an essential quality given the problems we found once the tile and drywall were opened up. Our "bathroom remodel" ended up involving completely reframing a wall, sistering all of the floor joists, rerouting incorrectly wired electrical work, and even some totally unrelated things like putting on a new storm door. Randy sent photos of the problems he found as he fixed them. Some of the other rooms had to be cut into to access the pipes, and he patched them back up so well I wouldn't have known had I not seen it myself. What could have been an extremely stressful process went very smoothly.
I had a pretty specific idea of what I wanted in the bathroom's design. We did a tile floor, custom tile shower with a bench and storage niches, and a custom storage cabinet to fill an awkward space between the shower and wall. Randy helped us work out a few of the quirks to the bathroom's layout, and guided us on a few of the things I wasn't sure of. I had to rely on him to make a few aesthetic decisions since I wasn't there, and I was very happy with the results.
The few times I visited the house during construction I was impressed how clean and organized the work area was. Overall I couldn't be more pleased with his work. Having a contractor who can do quality work efficiently and without supervision was a huge relief.
"Dear [member name removed]. I am very sorry for the inconvenience you have encountered with our company. It was sure unintentional. It would have been a pleasure to work for you, if only we could have manage to reach you. Randy left a few massages on your answering machine, but did not get any response from you. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience. It would have been a pleasure to serve you. Best regards, Iris Levy, Office manager at Kitchen Trends Div of RJ'S Remodeling Inc."
Randy and Iris were terrific to work with. I live in Kansas but was remodeling the home I grew up in which was located in South Jersey. They were willing get the tools necessary to help us better communicate (e.g., scanner, Skype calls, etc.). Always very happy to help and adjust as necessary.
Randy, responded to initial call immediately and made an appointment to see the spaces to remodel within the next day or two. He measured and came back with a new design after hearing about my preferences. We worked together to refine the design.
Iris was great responding to emails and working to find the best fixture, materials, appliances at the best prices. She spent a lot of time on it and did great follow up.
We really didn't have a timeline to finish the job as I wasn't in much of a rush, but Randy was on top of it and his crew worked everyday to get it done. As new issues or new ideas, Randy was ready to help with an adjustment to the design or figure a workaround that worked.
With every old house there are undiscovered problems. He noticed a serious one while working in the basement and brought it to my attention. Glad he fixed it or that problem would have surfaced sooner than I would have expected.
Now this process will go a lot smoother if you have an idea about what you want. I showed Randy pictures of things I liked and he worked each element into the design -- down to the barn door from the entry way to the kitchen.
It is easy for the budget to get out of hand. I wanted to put a B for price but I realized I was responsible for the choices made for the remodel and things added up faster than I had anticipated; they were all necessary things. So, if you have a budget and you are dealing with an old house, then you need to stay on top of it. I will say it was all worth the price as I have gotten a ton of compliments on the Kitchen remodel. A year later I am still getting folks who mention it to me.
"This is Iris Levy from the office of Kitchen Trends Div of RJ's Remodeling Inc. located in Margate NJ, responding to [member name removed]. Our records do not indicate a customer by the name of [member name removed]. My company did not have any contract in your area. we are located down the shore. You should check again with Angie's list and make sure you have the right ID number of the business who provided you with service, back in 2012 as you stated in your review. Good luck."
The second job we had a lazy susan which had not been working for months. We had tried several installers who worked with our particular brand of cabinet without success. Randy came and instantly knew that he would be able to repair the lazy susan and within a week he had it working as good as new.
