They arrived promptly and troubleshot the issue. This is what they wrote on our invoice, after spending (and we timed them..) 11 minutes:
"Found furnace breaker tripped. Isolated furnace and all was O.K. Electrician needed." Billed $69.55. 11 minutes.
It's frustrating to call a service company only to be charged for instruction to call an electrician, but I thought perhaps there was a complex electrical reason, which I would respect (if that were the case).
I had the electrician come to house after they left. He simply opened the switch box for the emergency shut off switch (the box with the red plate with switch that is attached to the furnace) and visually found a wire exposed from the connecting cap -just enough- to make contact with the metal box, causing a short, which caused the breaker to trip and turn off the furnace. This was the first thing he did upon arrival. There was no trouble shooting.
The electrician stated the issue was a very simple to detect if the service company "just took an extra step". They could have fixed this "very simple" problem.
The electrician literally apologized for charging me more to do (...what he said...) this service company should have and was capable of doing.
Bottom line, TES was here for 11 minutes and charged me $69.55 to ultimately abort fixing a (very simple) problem. They didn't take extra step with my job. They may very well do this and more with others. They might be great for some. However, I can't call a company again if I'm not sure they are able (or willing) to do the job. Based on my single experience, I think it's logical that I would not contact them again. While my experience may not be their their standard, my experience wasn't good.
Update: I was contacted by this Service Company upon reading this review. I did not solicit the contact or request it, so I respect it. The message that was left was very customer focused, wanting to talk to me. I feel this review simply reflects my experience which is what Angie's List was designed to do. The voicemail as a result of writing this review, sounded sincerely empathetic, oferring an apology for the situation.
If you?re looking for an HVAC contractor, your search is over. Andy Andeskie and the team from Total Energy Service are the guys to hire - professional, by-the-book, clean and workmanlike.
I began my search when looking to upgrade the two HVAC systems in my home. One of the biggest problems I?ve encountered in the past is firms that look to sell way beyond what you need. They propose to gold plate this and upgrade that, all of course on your nickel. Andy was the complete opposite. He took the time to understand our current systems and any issues we were having. He made a thorough inspection of our home so that he could make the necessary load calculations and recommend the properly sized systems. He thoroughly explained to me the different choices available, and steered me clear of a number of high end options that he felt were unnecessarily complicated and didn?t contribute to performance or energy savings. Finally, recognizing that I was interested in optimizing efficiency, he recommended several options that I took advantage of, including wrapping the ductwork in the attic and installing additional returns. At no point did I feel pressured or pitched. Talking with Andy is like chatting with a trusted friend who is happy to discuss alternatives and give his professional opinion of what is and isn?t worth it.
Andy?s installation crew, Steve and John, were workmanlike, professional, clean, quiet and polite. They never seemed to stop, and instead were always focused on the task at hand. The work they performed was excellent in every sense of the word. Everything was assembled and installed in an organized and orderly manner, resulting in a job that was clean and correct. The quality of their work speaks for itself ? the town inspector (who I paraphrase) made much the same comment, saying ?when you see as many shoddily installed systems as I do, it?s nice to see one that is so perfectly and professionally done.? When the job was completed, it was like the guys were never here (except of course for the two brand new shiny systems they left behind). They are welcome back at my house anytime.
My post installation experience has been no different. The systems Total Energy specified and installed work extremely well ? they are so much quieter and more efficient than the beasts we used to have in our attic and basement. Things cool and heat in a fraction of the time they used to, and the house is much more comfortable. And as for post-sales support, Andy is superb. A recent question I emailed him over the weekend was answered within a matter of hours, and he encourages questions and customer feedback.
The end result? Look nowhere else and do your business here. I highly and enthusiastically recommend Andy and the team from Total Energy Service. You won?t be disappointed!
From the moment I meet the owner I had a good feeling about Total Energy Service. Andy (Owner) showed me his shop and we discuss the history of his company. We communicated through email. I had some questions about quotes I received from other companies. Andy answer each question quickly.
Andy came to my house and did a full inspection with measurements for each room. Of the four quotes I got, Total Energy Service was by far the most complete. The quote was reasonable and the product high quality.
The crew showed up on time and started to work immediately. This was a full two day job. They left the work area neat at the end of the day. People from Total Energy Service came by during the installation (including Andy) to check on the progress of the work. Everything seemed to be good. At the end of the installation, Andy came by and showed me how everything worked.
It is now over a month since the installation and the air conditioner is Fantastic! The whole Trane system is very quiet. The fan blows a lot of cool air through out the house. I have not used the furnace or humidifier yet, but I think they will work fine.
Total Energy Service did install the correct size central air conditioner for my house. I did get three other quotes with different size units.
Overall I am very please with the installation of my central air conditioner and furnace. Total Energy Service did a great job and I would be glad to refer this company to anyone.
Andy from Total Energy was patient, easy to work with and able to assure me this product was my best choice. Everything from start to finish went exactly as planned. Andy was at my house inspecting everything 3 times in 1 and a half days. All of my questions were answered. His installers were neat and efficient. Everything was cleaned up as if they hadn't been there. A small issue that can up afterward was solving in less than 24 hours without my being inconvenienced. Total Energy did a great Job and I highly recommend them. I don't know what to say other than I love the way this a/c works only regret waiting so long to do it.
My experience with them was very good. They were very punctual and professional. They do good work. I rate them high overall.
