He was wonderful .

He did a wonderful job. It was beautiful. On the other side of the yard, there already was a tree, some stone and a path around to the north side of the house but from the deck around to the south side of the house, it really was rather plain and it doesn't get a whole lot of son and it's sort of boring but we decided to move a little bit of shrubbery from the front of the house that was getting a little overgrown and in looking to what to do with it, I was sort of ready to throw it out, he said, "no, no, no, let me do something with it." I guess he doesn't want to ever throw anything out. We figured we could put it there to give it more room to grow and prune it as needed but let it kind of grow back there. We found some other things that could live with not as much sun. It's so attractive, you come out on the deck and you look down, it looks like it's belonged there forever. I can hardly remember what it looked like before. I think he was creative in his ideas. I gave him a $2000 budget and we were talking about what to do. When he had his designed laid out and he was marking the grass with his sprays to sort of show what he was doing, I said, well what about if you change it to here and do this? Well yeah, okay, he could do that and he start putting things in. He's finally came up to me with a bill, he changed this to that. I said, but surely everything has to cost more than that. He kind of had this puppy-dog look on his face and I said, no you got to charge me what this stuff cost. He said, well you've given me this $2000 limit. I said, when I changed the parameters you had to get real, I should have said well, let's go to 2500 or something. He said, well if you'd said that then I would have gone back and do this other thing. I said, I was wanting to see what this other thing is going to look like. We're going to have to talk about that in the future when I changed gears halfway through that we negotiate, we agreed with the difference. It's gorgeous and I love it. He certainly knows the plants that will work in sun or shade or around here. I will be using him for my annual pruning around the property, spring pruning and fall pruning to keep everything looking trimmed.

It was fine. Everything looks good and is holding up well.

He did not charge when he came back last fall because that was still part of the project.

UNFORTUNATELY, he was THREE months late in arriving to accomplish the job. The shrubs had grown quite shaggy by the end of June. Weeds were about to take over. When they finally got here, they did an excellent job. I plan to give Jon another chance to trim my bushes and trees. If he's late next time, I'll have to decide if the resulting look is worth the frustration.
