T&K Custom Decks

I initially enjoyed working with Tom at T&K to build a deck at my house. He communicated well by text and was understanding about issues I had with my bank. But immediately after the job was allegedly done and all money paid, I found several problems. I noticed a post was damaged, a concrete footer under the steps was missing, and eight holes in the railing were missing screws. They initially agreed to do the repairs, but then never showed up to do the work. Around the same time, I measured the deck and discovered that the 20 ft x 14 ft deck we had agreed on in our contract was only 17 ft x 14 ft. After I asked them what happened with the dimensions of the deck, they admitted being aware of the change and cited a structural limitation of my house that prevented the original size from being built. Yet, they did not notify me at any point about the issue and it was only because I measured the deck myself after it was supposedly done that I even found out about this! They started ignoring me after that, despite several text messages and emails I sent seeking a mutually agreeable solution. Therefore, I would not recommend this business that never finished the job they agreed to do.

Outstanding! The team was professional, knowledgeable, prompt, hard-working, and polite. The owner helped me improve my deck with suggestions and at least one crew member worked daily until the job was complete. I highly recommend this company.

The job started over a month ago. At first, it went quick and smooth. Then came the excuses about materials. They wouldn't show up for days. The owner, Tom was rarely at the job and never communicates with us. We are still waiting for the job completion. Lately, they will show up for a couple of hours once a week (this crew of ~6 are working on 5 decks) each time saying they'll be back. The trim looks absolutely terrible and amateurish. Our deck is over 1300 sqft, but I guess they got bored with it. These previous reviews are completely opposite from our experience!

T&K Custom Decks built a deck that went far beyond our expectations.  We received multiple estimates.  The owner, Tom, beat the nearest competitor by over $1,000.  Plus, he did plumbing work (bringing the hose bib by the house that was blocked by the deck to the front of the deck) free of charge (the other companies refused to that at all and instead told me to hire a plumber).  And he added an extra light package for the steps for free because the project ran a week over schedule.  
Many times, when you hire a contractor, you never see the contractor after you sign the contract.  Usually the boss disappears and a group of illegal aliens who cannot speak English show up to do the work.  With T&K Decking, the owner was there each and everyday. He supervised and did much of the work himself, which was refreshing to see.
The care that Tom and his employees took in building the new deck was extraordinary.  I'm a pretty tough critic of work done on my house and the design and beauty of the deck I have now cannot be criticized.  Tom came up with ideas to improve the deck that i had not thought of.  It is really beautiful.    

        I am well pleased.  Tom performed all work as promised.  The deck is Fantastic!  We use it every day,  The basic construction was only a week.  The LED post caps were held up a few weeks because they were on back-order in the color we wanted.  Tom used a 'CAMO' gun to secure the decking to the old framing.  No fasteners or screws show,  a nice clean look. 

        Also,  these LED lights DO NOT ATTRACT BUGS.  It is just so nice to sit out in the late evening without any bugs buzzing about.

       The PVC decking is a dream to keep clean,  Just hose it off.  My 11 pound Min-Pin dog is constantly 'marking' his territory against the squirrels who feed off the acorns that drop from a large tree over hanging the deck.  I just use a watering can to wash the stains away.

They took down existing deck within one day. Put up new deck in two weeks taking their time making sure everything was level. They did not rush a lot of quality was put into the job.
Same guys started and finsihed the job the main carpenter was very meticulous and clean.

Provider did a very nice job and we are very happy with the finished product.  Owner was easy to get in touch with, responded quickly and was very helpful.  His employee was also very respectful of our property and they were clearly interested in providing excellent customer service and and a great finished product.  We would use them again if the situation called for it, but I think our new composite deck will last a very long time - which is a very good thing!  We are getting tons of compliments from our friends and guests who visit.  Overall we were very happy especially given the often poor response and service you can get from contractors.

Job was done when the provider stated.  Materials used were of first class quality.  Price was excellent for the quality of the work.  Provider was easy to work with and did everything to make it exactly what I envisioned.  No short cuts were taken and everything was cleaned up at the completion of the work.  I feel this provider cares not only about his business but about making your job done in the best way possible.  I not only would use them again I would recommend them to anyone wanting to use their company.
