SEE ABOVE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Description of Work: The company I am referring to is Full Line Construction. It is an company run out of Manahawkin New Jersey. My husband and I hired Jim Howley. He is the owner of the company. We hired him January 2011. The job was an addition to our ranch style house. The contracted price for the whole job was $55,000. This included demo of our existing front porch and adding on 32 X 24 foot addition to our existing part of our house. This price included central air conditioning to installed to our entire house, plus a installation of a new hot water heater, the new addition to be move in ready including carpet. First mistake, he made a payment schedule in our contract and could not stick to it. Meaning, that a certain dollar amount would be paid to him when certain amount of work was complete. We trusted him and gave him money when he asked. The guy did have our entire house in his hands. He and his sons( yes thats the whole company) worked very slow and could not keep to a schedule. We broke ground in February 2011 and in May 2011 Jim was completely over budget. Jim approached us and told us that he over budget and needed an additional $16,625!!. Total amount that he wanted was over 24,000. Let't put this into prospective, our addition was maybe halfway complete. We had no walls only studs, We had no electrical work done , no air conditioning , no sheet rock ,NO HEAT, no installation of hot water heater, no installation of doors to new and existing part of house,no installation of tile in our foyer and in both new bathrooms, no carpet and he was installing all our fixtures in the bathrooms. Not to mention the mounds of garbage he left in my yard!! I have pictures and receipts. I had to haul the garbage to our county dump You have to understand that we are a family of 5. My son was only 9 months at the time. We needed to finish because of all the small kids in our house. So again believed him when he said he would work with us. We itemizied everything left to see where we save because we couldn't afford to pay him anymore . The small amount of leeway that we had was already spent on other things that I didn't mention. My husband installed the insulation. When we finally agreed on what his company would actually do he INSISTED on his final check. I did not know that in THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY that this illegal you need a CO then a final payment can be made.. OF course, he got his check. Thankfully, I wrote in the memo of what he was supposed to do for this check. He cashed the check. The ONLY thing that he did do was install the tile in our 2 new bathrooms and foyer. The last time we was or heard from Jim Howley was Jan 3 2012. I remember so vividly saying goodnite to him and he said he would be back in the morning. NEVER to hear from him again. So in all, HE NEVER installed our heat, or our sheetrcok, never installed our toilets or sinks or our bigger hot water heater. The hot water heater still sits next to the old. We cannot afford to have it installed. He never installed our doors on our exsisting part of our house. The doors still sit on our new part of the house because we cannot afford to have them installed either. The electrician thankfully told us that we need ventilation for our exhaust fans that were installed in the 2 new bathrooms. That's still not complete. Theres is no carpet in place either. Thats was in the original contract that he would buy and install. The tile work that he did install? Well that was subpar. My husband had to fill in the a lot of areas that were not fully grouted. DO NOT USE this company!! He will seem very nice and calm and tell you what you want to hear BUT he will work very slow and not finish the work he was hiried to do. There is so many other examples i can use but i know now that unless it in writing it never happened. ALL the things that I stated, I have in writing and took pictures. He can talk the talk but definitely only walks away with a half finished house and ALL of our money.
