He's fantastic--both a structural engineer and contractor! As many contractors as I have found, there are not many that are so intelligent as to pick up on everything you are saying, problem solve as you are talking, and communicate solutions immediately. He is also a teacher and was the only contractor that gave me a visual description of what has been going on under my house in my 20 years of living here.

He was very prompt and professional. Got the job done quickly and very much to my satisfaction.

I asked Nick to look at a particular part of a property. He came by, identified the issue as significantly wider, measured, documented and analyzed its effects and more partial mitigations and causes than we had been aware of, and suggested different solutions. After reading the report, we had a quick chat and he helped understand the space of solutions in a practical way. Very valuable service, even if not cheap.

I had some cracks in my foundation and well as on my 2nd floor wall above windows. I wanted a structural inspection just to be sure that there was no major issues since it is a very old house. I googled structural engineers and found Colonna. I called the number and left a message, with in about 2 hours Nick called me. After explaining my issues to him, he told me that he was going to be in my area the next day. We set up a time and Nick was even there early (nice not have to wait around for someone to show up) he looked at the crack and did a full inspection and explained to me that it was not major. It is great to deal with someone who returns your call right away and is early or ontime for the appointment, besides walking you through and explaining what he was looking for and why it was nothing major. Nick was attentive and was able to take a provide us with a cost effective solution to a structural challenge we were having. We were having challenges with our previous architect providing the help with needed. Nick was able to continue the work and help us wrap up the project. He has extensive knowledge on following the proper process when working with inspections and advised us on the best course to make our project move forward. I would definitely recommend him to my entire network.

Nick was extremely friendly and helpful. Our property has a major slant in the foundation and he was able to give us an idea of how to fix and how much it would cost to repair the issues at hand. He was also extremely knowledgeable about a ton of other inspection related questions and ideas. If he has availability and you can grab him as a contractor, do it!

Nick and his team at Colonna Consulting are incredible. He is the best and most helpful contractor I have ever worked with. Nick was able to open up a load bearing wall in my house AND fix a pre-existing structural issue, and he did all this on a very reasonable budget. Colonnas work speaks for itself and was delivered in a very short timeframe. The team at Colonna is extremely professional and keeps their work area clean throughout the project. It was an absolute pleasure working with Colonna and I look forward to working with them again. When was the last time you said that about a contractor???

Nick was polite and on time. He was well versed in the structural problem and not in a hurry - spent all the time that I needed to answer my questions and at a level that I could understand. I received his report very quickly.

Great design and permitting work.

We highly recommend Nick and his team. He is a true professional who is absolutely committed to doing quality work. We hired Nick to do a complete remodel of the main floor of our home; this included a complete kitchen relocation and remodel as well as removing several load-bearing walls in the home. Nick was able to do all of the engineering work, draft all of the drawings, get all of the permits and approvals, and then do the work. He delivered a truly comprehensive solution. From the beginning he offered a number of ideas that we had not previously considered, making the end-result much better than we had ever imagined. We are generally detail-oriented people and Nick's meticulousness lined up perfectly with us. On a number of occasions he went the extra mile to iron out details that made the end result feel fabulous. Nick is not the type of contractor that drops a crew off in the mornings, heads off to another job, and hopes for the best. He and his carpenter, Billy, did the work themselves; carefully and meticulously. They truly made the whole process of renovating our home much more enjoyable. Bottom line, we can't say enough good things about the work they did for us or how easy it was to work with them.

Colonna Consulting, owner Nick Colonna is a great company. Meeting Nick, I immediately felt comfortable. Nick explained what was needed to fix an outside exterior wall that was in bad shape. Then Nick and his associate Billie were very efficient, hard working people. Area where they worked was spotless afterwards. I believe they treat the job as if they are working on their own home. The price was very fair. I will definitely call Colonna Consulting again real soon for more jobs. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend Colonnade Construction. Although they were not the lowest estimate, I couldn't have picked a better company. They were always on time, protected my furniture, carpeting etc. they cleaned up every night when complete. I picked out my fixtures for the bathroom remodel. Nick went and purchased and stored items for me. The finished product is excellent and extremely well done!

I hired Nick to remove walls (including load bearing one) in my old house we just moved in and helped me to improve the house (including trims, kitchen updates, etc). Nick did an excellent job. He's a true professional, honest and respond to my call/email right away. Many contractors do not follow this basic but very important thing for their customers. As a first-time homeowner, I didn't know much about the house and how to improve it and, moreover, how to correct something I found during my renovation. Although that was not responsible for Nick, he was willing to help and suggested me what I should do. For example, while he was removing the load bearing wall in my living room, he found no insulation in the exterior wall. He called me right away and recommended me to insulate the house even if it could delay his work and adjust his schedule. That was really a good decision during the cold weather in NJ. His pricing is reasonable. If he thinks someone else can do a better job with better price, he honestly says that. I'd strongly recommend him to those who need a reliable professional. I'd definitely hire him again for my home improvement projects in the future.

Nick remodeled our kitchen and we are so happy with the results. Our kitchen had extremely thick slate tile on top of old layers of even older flooring causing it to have high thresholds from the other rooms, which was a tripping hazard. He was able to level the floor which we were not sure would be possible. He also installed our cabinets and appliances. Our kitchen is on the small side and has 4 doorways making it a challenging layout to put in storage and counter space. He helped us come up with an idea to add a pantry and storage area that also hid the chimney in the process. I doubled (possibly tripled) the storage I had before. As little things came up here and there, he was able to take care of it all and the final cost was very reasonable. I would highly recommend him to anyone and we have other projects that I would like to have him do for us when we are ready.

They are truthful

Nick is a gifted professional. He listens to all your concerns and explains how it will be handled. The framing took a lot of thought since the house had rather strange openings to repair from the removal of a spiral staircase and replacing it with straight staircases in a different location. I would highly recommend him and know that who uses his services would get their monies worth and not have any hassle ...the job would run very smoothly.

NIck did a great job on our renovation. He was prompt, thorough and extremely knowledgeable. His work was meticulous and he offered great suggestions to both improve the project and even to save money.
