We needed two trees removed- they made arrangements for the removal and the tree removal went well- these were two very old mature trees over the house which is a painstaking process- and they did a very good job
Patio work- everything was set to go- and they discovered a sill plate problem-
could not start the job- and needed a new plan - with the sill plate below ground even if it was repaired -still need a new plan They were already going to rergrade the patio area- but with the unexpected sill plate issue- they had to delay their job and develop a plan to redirect water away from the sill plate once the repair was complete- and they did it
Great to work with- they could have laid the patio and ignored the sill plate issue- not their job- but they did identify it and it cost them time- and money_ they had a crew at our house to do the patio and had to call them off- until we could resolve the sill plate issue
Also did our Fall cleanup -did a great job
Would highly recommend them
"I met with the member to discuss any issues with our designer that contracted with the member. His concerns were addressed with answers to his questions. The sod that was installed was top quality sod and was in perfect condition where the remainder of his lawn that was not sodded is in poor condition and existing prior to our work. All of the plants are in great condition and thriving. The landscape beds we installed look beautiful and are in great shape. The member is trying to compare our contract price to online generic price numbers posted in media. Our company stands behind our quality of work and pricing."
I had to call Sam three times before he returned my calls; when he called he said he had been out to inspect the problem and he put tape in the popups to keep them in place. He used what looks like masking tape, and only on one side. Needless to say, the tape is useless and open popups are an invitation to rodents and vermin. We have had another contractor out to examine the work that was done, and in his opinion the job was handled incorrectly. The trench was dug by hand instead of a trencher and it shows. Judging by the lake in the back yard, I agree with him. I don't think SLS was capable of addressing our irrigation issue and shouldn't have taken the job. Once they did and got our payment, Sam stopped responding to calls and evidently cannot or will not fix it.
I filed a complaint with the BBB, and the complaint is now closed because SLS did not respond to either notification. I have given SLS every opportunity to correct their work because I paid for it, and a more responsible business owner would care about customer satisfaction and their reputation.
"Sam initially met with (Member name removed) on 5/3/2013 when she explained she was receiving rain water from the neighboring property and was making her basement wet. Sam recommended extending her downspouts out onto the lawn into popup emitters. By extending the downspouts into popup emitters on the lawn this would carry the water away from the foundation on the house. A catch basin was installed in line with the popup emitter to collect water run off from the neighbors downspout. The work contract was executed on 5/10/2013 and work was completed in one day on 5/31/2013. SLS performed no irrigation work nor were we contracted to perform any site grading. Our crew hand dug two 8" wide trenches to install 4" pipe to connect popup emitters. The property has an underground sprinkler system and utilities so a trenching machine is not an option. All work was installed in a timely and professional manor and exactly how it was proposed on the contract. Sam was contacted a couple of weeks after the work was completed regarding water collecting near the grate. Upon inspection, it was discovered a fence was installed after the popups were installed and the fence had soil mounded up along the base of the bottom rail preventing water form draining through to the back yard and water was collecting in pre existing flower beds in the back yard. This discovery was explained to (Member name removed) after inspection. My feeling is that with the record rainfall that we have experienced in May, June and July the ground is saturated and is taking much longer to percolate through the soil. An onsite meeting was offered to (Member name removed) to review the contract and the work performed and we are awaiting her reply."
I would highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again.
As a note, we have used them for mowing only, but they offer a other services. We can't comment on those since we have not used them. But overall, our experience with this company has been very good and we would recommend them.
