Pond's Custom Painting - Power Washing & Deck Stai

Horrible. Matt never showed up to do the work. I signed and returned a contract on April 19, 2016 to have Matt Pond repair and paint my house at the jersey shore (it is a Sandy Survivor and badly needed this work done.) Matt had many many outstanding reviews online, and an A+ rating from the BBB. On May 28th, Matt texted me and said he would be at my house in 6 weeks - mid July - to do the job. That day came and went, and he put me off "because he was backed up." On August 10th Matt texted me and said he would "squeeze me in" in 4 weeks. That took it to after labor day weekend. When he didn't show up and I contacted him, he said he'd be there in 3 weeks. He didn't show up. On October 10th, he texted me and said he'd be there on Halloween. On October 24th I contacted him to confirm he was coming on the 31st, and he texted me he couldn't come until "November 7th." On November 4th he cancelled but promised November 10th, but on November 9th cancelled - and said maybe the 11th or next week. Absolutely and totally irresponsible and unreliable. On November 9th when he cancelled again, I tried my best to work this out with him amicably, but he was not interested in fixing this problem. Despite the fact that 99 percent of his promises and communications are documented in text messages, he said he didn't owe me anything because he didn't sign the contract. I began getting more quotes in October (fearing the worst) and most painters were booked out for the rest of the nice weather. I did receive two quotes, but they were at a "premium" and thousands overpriced. So I held on and hoped for the best. Matt Pond may have had a reputable business in the past, but he is not reliable or trustworthy, and I recommend that you avoid him at all costs! The exterior of my house has gotten worse since I hired him in April, and I am heartbroken that I was mistaken and trusted he would keep his word.

Matt painted my house about three years ago and did a really good job at a very fair price, so he was one of the first people I thought of to call when my deck needed to be stained. Also, on the back of the house, the paint has come off in approximately a 12" x 5" section. I guess when it was originally painted there was an air bubble or something and with the heavy storms we've had in the past couple of months the paint started peeling off the aluminum siding. I asked that he could take a look at that as well and let me know the cost to fix it since it's on the second story and I'm not comfortable going up that high to touch it up myself.  
At first I emailed him in early March and never got a response. I assumed perhaps his email had changed since he last did work for me so about three weeks ago I called and spoke with him directly. He said they were getting busy, but that he'd come out and take a look. Unfortunately, I haven't heard from him since then, so I ended up hiring another company to do the deck. Not sure what I'm going to do about the house issue though.
I gave Matt good scores on everything else except for responsiveness. I can understand being busy, but I would have appreciated it if he would have just said he was too busy to give me an estimate or that the job was too small or whatever instead of making me (and the other contractors who were bidding on the work) wait. It was a little disappointing, especially since I was a returning customer.

We recently hired Matt Ponds and Ponds Painting and Deck Staining to paint our kitchen and also our deck.  Matt and his team showed up on time, cleaned up after their work, and most importantly did an excellent job.  I am very pleased with the quality of service and will call Matt again when we need other rooms painted.  I highly recommend Matt.

They were very professional and our deck has never looked better.  They even stained our wooden patio furniture upon request without an additional charge.

. I got 4 or 5 bids with Matt Pond the last. He showed up  5:00 pm clearly after a day painting, he had  paint on his neck and apologized for his old truck. But he gave me a good, bid, was experienced, seemed responsible, and had good reviews. Matt is straightforward and easy to work with, .  "Please tell me what you want," he understands, and does it well.  When I asked him for advice, he gave it, I took it, and it turned out  to be good advice.  He worked through the job by himself, but has a crew to call upon.  There was some rain delay and the shutters were not drying properly (according to Matt) so he took them back  to his garage to dry..  He came out Sunday afternoon to finish up.   Matt takes pride in doing a good job for you.
     I have gotten to work with a number of contractors while fixing up my house.  The ones with the big crews come out, finish quickly and they are gone.  It is good enough work, nice to be done, but the crew foreman and front person makes the job more expensive.  Often I did not exactly get what I wanted, although I got the job that was bid. . Ofter there are misunderstandings as I learn to communicate to a new contractor better and specification changes as I get smarter about what I want.  Correcting this afterwards is awkward for me and expensive to the contractor.    I get a better job when I can watch, listen and learn as a job proceeds.. Matt Pond was a great contractor to work along with and the job turned out great.   .  

My family has used Pond's Painting on a number of occasions and we can highly recommend them.  Most recently, they painted the exterior of my house (over aluminum siding) and it looks like a new home.  I couldn't be more pleased with the results.  Matt Pond helped me in selected the correct shade of paint and once they were able to begin the project (it was a very rainy few months!), they completed the work quickly and professionally.  There was no debris left behind and after a month or so I noticed a small area that hadn't taken the paint properly.  Matt came back right away and redid that section.  They've also done other homes in my town and every one I've seen looks beautiful.  Several years ago, they re-stained my deck, and I will certainly be calling on them as soon as my new deck needs to be restained.  You won't go wrong if you hire Matt Pond.

Very good. Not too many delays. Painter was on vacation prior to the job, but I was told that. Job was completed in a few days.
