Bob and Doug Caldwell of Caldwell Remodeling performed a full kitchen remodel on our kitchen in September 2013. The remodel consisted of a breakdown of the old kitchen, taking walls and ceiling down to the studs, removed existing soffits, modified HVAC duct work, wired new electrical for dual fuel stove, added LED under mount, LED pendant lights and recessed lighting. They installed ceramic tile floor in the kitchen and laundry room and also installed a travertine kitchen back splash and a glass/metal back splash around stove. They installed new cabinetry, including custom trim and crown molding in both the kitchen and laundry room. They also did the install of all of the new appliances, including duct work for a new professional hood. In addition to the kitchen work, they did an install of a natural gas fireplace and made associated chimney modifications needed to replace an old gas fireplace. All of the above was done entirely by Bob and Doug themselves with no subcontractors. Because of this we felt comfortable entrusting our house to Bob and Doug since they did all of the work themselves and at no time did we have strangers in and out of our house without Bob's direct supervision. The only sub-contracting that occurred was for the install of the granite and the modification of a sewer line that originally ran through one of the removed soffits. Bob handled all the needed permit applications and was present for all of the township inspections. Bob and Doug were very professional, skillful, creative and had a high attention to detail. We were quite impressed at the quality of their work and expertise in all of the work they performed. As in all jobs, certain unplanned challenges might occur. Bob was there to offer several creative suggestions and ideas to address the issues rather than just following the specifications of the contract and rushing through to get the job done. Bob and Doug were also very neat with their work and cleaned up all construction materials promptly. During the renovations, Bob remained in constant contact with us, updating us with pictures during the day and keeping us informed of the progress. When we returned to our house in the evening, if we had questions or concerns, Bob was receptive and responded back promptly to our e-mails or text without issue, even when they were later in the evening. In summary, we find it very frustrating when dealing with contractors to determine who is going to do a good job and who is giving you a fair price. Luckily, we came across Caldwell Home Remodeling and we finally found a contractor that not only gave a good price, but they had a great work ethic, offered creative ideas and had great attention to detail. They treated the job as if they were working on their own home, not just doing a job. Now that our work is completed, many friends and relatives are quite impressed with the results of our remodel and we have received many compliments. When dealing with contractors, we find that there is usually a huge disconnect between what contractors promise and what they deliver, especially when it comes to non-contractual items. For our remodel, Bob and Doug definitely delivered and we are extremely satisfied. We think we have found a genuine, hardworking, trustworthy, dependable no-nonsense contractor that we will definitely use again in the future.
