If there's nothing wrong with your car he doesn't try to make something wrong with it. I've actually tested him. Where I was employed at the time we had three company vehicles that haven't been serviced in years and so I looked them over. I put new belts, new fluids, new oil filters, and new air filters because all of the three cars needed those basic things. I had to start to find somebody that could do the oil changes because here in The State of New Jersey and most everywhere you shouldn't do it yourself. It should be done at a registered place to be disposed of properly and it was a federal site, so we had to do the right thing. I went to three different mechanics and set up appointments because I took each car to a different guy. I told them I was bringing in these particular cars that haven't been working or serviced in a while and could they look them over. I also asked them to call me before they do any work to give me a price. Well, the first guy called and said it had a dirty air filter. The second guy calls back and says the belt looks bad and it's going to need a new power steering pump. Al of Lodi Gulf Auto Repair calls me back and said besides from the oil being really dirty the belts looked new. He said the belts looked like someone just put them on and the air filter looked new too. I thanked him and asked him to do the oil and filter change. I then told him I would be bringing him the other two cars to look at the next day and that's how the relationship began. I also had co-workers on the job and since it was a federal site there were a lot of out-of-towners coming in who had car trouble, so I would just refer them to him. Half of the time something was wrong with their cars, but the other half of the time it was a rock in the rim which caused a tire to make noise or something like that and he wouldn't charge them. People would give him $20 to buy lunch or something because other places would charge you $100 just to look at it. He's just a good person.
