I was a client of Mr. Bornstein's in the past. . Since that time my tax status changed and became more straight forward. Retired, no longer in need of an LLC.
But a question came up about my father's estate plans( he is still living) that has some complexity that I could not handle.
I called Mr Bornstein, left a message of who I was and within an hour he called back. I  requested to meet and was willing to pay for his time. He asked me what seemed to be the problem and after a discussion of about 25 minutes in which he answered all my questions and advised what steps to follow . I thanked him and asked about his fee. He replied that there was no fee.
This was no consultation. He was very thorough ,knowledgeable and had  great attention to detail.

The owner of the company I work for asked me to set up consultations with CPA's for him because he is thinking about switching accountants for his company.  Paul Bornstein is the first one I came across with good reviews and in proximity.  I called his office number, introduced myself and asked for a consultation, he rudely replied "We're not interested" and then hung up the phone on me, without giving me a chance.  I called back and the machine picked up, so I called back again and he picked up and hung up.  The third time, I blocked my number and he picked up and I explained why I was calling in more detail and he started laughing.  No thank you Paul, we can find someone who is more professional.

Mr. Bornstein is easy to get in touch with and always returns calls quickly. I was very happy with his services, as are many people, so don't wait until the last minute to arrange an appointment with him around tax time, although he will do his best to accommodate you. He allows you to pay at the time of service or to be billed and did a great job of answering questions as well as gave helpful suggestions. At the end of our meeting he even gave us a sweet and clever gift and told us to call him anytime throughout the year with any tax questions we may have. Within a few days we received our tax statements in a very professional package. An exceptional value for quality service!

We needed a new CPA to do our taxes. We found Paul through Angie's List and could be more pleased!  He was professional, very reasonable, and got the job done. A VERY nice man as well! I would highly recommend and will be returning!

I discovered Paul back in April of this year when I became frustrated with utilizing Turbo Tax.  I took extensions for both our personal return and my husbands S corporation. Paul was very instrumental in saving us money.  And who doesn't like saving your hard earned income. While working on the adjustments a tragedy struck our family and Paul stepped right in to review the work I had done. It would take me some time and family support before I was able to complete our returns. My husband and I are so grateful for not only his performance as a CPA but for his compassion as an individual.

Paul D. Bornstein CPA is a decent CPA. I didn't really see anything spectacular about him. I actually found a CPA for my business that I would recommend over Mr. Bornstein. He did a good job, I guess, but my return wasn't that difficult to begin with. I just didn't have time to do it myself. For $450.00, I probably wouldn't recommend him for a personal CPA.  Service-wise, he did exactly what he needed to do. My return was simple and I haven't gotten an audit yet. I can't really complain about the service, I guess. I guess he can command a higher price because he is rated so high on Angie's List.

I would just like to start by saying that I drove from New York, New York to New Jersey and it took me an hour to get to his location which is his house. Mr. Bornstein is very nice however I felt he did not know New York tax regulations as he should have and was not getting me back any money whatsoever. When I mentioned certain tax information to him he couldn't remember what the new laws were. He really was not doing anything different from what I could do on my own, he did not know any ins and outs of anything. I did not feel comfortable using his services so I asked him for all of my stuff back and told him I was not using his services. Mr. Bornstein then gave me my stuff back and made me pay him for the time I spent in his office/house. He wanted to charge me $100.00 bucks for an hour of service which I did not get. About two months later I received a call from Mr Bornstein saying that he is my accountant and he did our taxes and was looking for money from me because he did our taxes and saying there is a balance owed to him of $300.00 I said you did not do my taxes I took my stuff back paid you for the time I spent in your office and left remember? He argued a bit with me first then realized that he didn't do them. About a week after that I receive an email from Mr. Bornstein notifying me that he filed an extension on my return. I emailed him back and told him again that I did my taxes on my own and did not use his services and I am not sure what is going on. He replied back saying that he didn't do an extension and apologized for the email. I thought that was a bit odd, how do you not know who your clients are and who you do taxes for. To me this is someone that just knows how to plug numbers into a system and uses the bare minimum knowledge and gets as many clients he can get from anywhere to make money around tax season.  I do not feel he knows the proper tax guidelines for each state. No special services just an average joe.

We have always had a positive experience with him. He is very knowledgeable and good turn around time. It was very easy to get an appointment. He communicates through email and phone calls and it was a very easy process.

Paul Bornstein was wonderful!  My husband and I hired Paul to do our 2012 taxes and we couldn't be happier.  He took his time and explained everything to us as he reviewed our paperwork.  He also made sure that our past two years were filed properly.  My husband and I are newly weds and first time home owners, so we were worried that are taxes were going to be a little more involved this go around.  We wanted to make sure that our taxes were filed properly and we wanted to hire the best person for the job.  After searching on Angie's List, I found that Paul had superb ratings and rave reviews from his other clients.  After having him file for us, we understand why.  He made us feel very comfortable and confident in his services.  We will definitely be returning next year.  
Oh, and by the way, after he files your taxes, he gives you these awesome chocolate bars that have an imprint of a tax form on it...it was a nice little treat and a super cute idea!

Paul straightened it out promptly. He was a lifesaver. I went to his office on 8/6 with all my information. He called me on 8?10 to come pick my amended returns, Federl and State. All I had to do was include my chek and mail.

He was competent and thorough and we were glad to use him. We'd use him again.

After trying to use Turbotax for a second Year in a row we were disappointed at what the refund was supposed to be. Our original refund with Turbotax was around $2,000 when we lived in an apartment and then it was $2,800 with our house. I couldn't believe the refund only went up by $800 especially considering this included a $300 Tax Credit for installing Efficient Heating/Cooling in our new home. We found Mr. Bornstein here on Angie's list. After speaking with a few different accountants on the phone first we decided to use Mr. Bornstein.

I have to say we are VERY happy. Mr. Bornstein was quick, thourough, and accurate. Within 20 minutes our minds were blown away at all of the deductions we were missing! Not only is he very professional but he is very kind, patient, and informative. Before we left he gave us a list of things we forgot to bring, and he provided my wife with a booklet to help us with all of our deductions for this year. He even supplied us with some chocolate bars that looked like 1040 forms (pretty hilarious)!

If you are a DIY'er like me I urge you to give Mr. Bornstein a try! As previously mentioned Turbotax quoted me at $2,800 for a refund. By the time we were done with Mr. Bornstein our refund was almost $4,000! This more than compensated for his fees. 

I contacted Paul by phone after reading reviews on Angie's List. I scheduled an appointment with him to discuss preparing my 2011 return. He reviewed my 2010 tax return during our initial consultation and immediately was able to spot ways I can increase my deductions. I decided to give Paul a try for my 2011 return. It was a good decision on my part to have Paul do my taxes. I was very happy and satisfied with the outcome of my tax return. He was very professional. But what impressed me the most about him was that he charged me the initial price (even though he could have charged me more)  he quoted for his services despite the fact that my return took a little more work then he had anticipated. I will be using Paul again next year for my taxes.

Mr. Bornstein prepared and submitted our 2011 tax return efficiently and correctly. He not only found an error on the previous year's return, but he managed to increase the amount of refund we expected. He also charged an extremely reasonable rate. He was prompt, fast, and professional. We will absolutely come back for next year's return.

Paul Bornstein provided excellent communication skills throughout the process of completing our tax returns.  He was reliable, conscientious, and demonstrated unwavering integrity, throughout our work together.

The experience I had was a positive one. I feel confident that my taxes were done completely, corrected, and that I will receive the maximum refund I deserve. He answered questions I had about other financial issues I had even though they were not directly tax related. Even days after the taxes were finished I had a financial question that I called him about, and he went over the details so I was comfortable about the ramifications.

The services I needed were performed quickly and professionally.  I came away with more knowledge and confidence in my tax submissions.  He obviously has the subject comvered.

We used hi again for our taxes this year. Friendly, helpful and knowledgable. We will be using Paul again for years to come.

businWe had to change accountants for 2010 taxes.  The first tax acct we had selected from a service had made an enormous mess and incorrectly done our taxes.  Fortunately, we filed an extension at the last minute to give us time to find a highly rated tax accountant.  We found this in Paul Bornstein.

Our taxes are not just a simple prep since we have both personal as well as small business taxes to file each year and for multiple states.  Paul was able to sort through the mess and properly fix and prepare our 2010 taxes.  He saved us from a giant mess and headache which would have been very difficult and painful to fix.
