Been a homeowner for 40 years...and this is the best contractor we ever had. Recently we bought a new summer house in lBI. We didn't know any contractors, so went by review on here and others. We contacted Chuck Patterson from Cambium Building to get an estimate on new vinyl siding and possibly new steps. Chuck was one of four contractors who gave us an estimate. First of all, he came out to visit with us and show us samples and explain what he would do. A few days later, he emailed a detailed estimate and quote to us. We were hoping that Chuck would be within our budget because we had immediately liked him and his style of doing business. His quote was more than reasonable, and we smartly hired him. He was very professional, but at the same time, he is friendly and personable. He did not disappoint. In fact, because we were not there to see the progress, he sent us many pictures via text message. We were always informed about what was going on. Not only that, but in the original contract, he developed a payment time table that was easy to follow and left no question when the payments were due. Fair, professional, craftsman, trustworthy, capable, friendly, neat, visionary....I can't say enough about Chuck! Would hire him for future work in a heartbeat.

Over the past 2+ years, we have had occasion to secure a variety of services due to the loss of both our primary Pennsylvania home and our New Jersey shore home during Hurricane Sandy.  Of the many service providers we have used, Chuck Patterson of Cambium Building resides at the top of the list.  He did an excellent job in repairing the poor work done on our shore home by a roofer and installing several windows.  We were quite satisfied with his professionalism and the quality of his work.  But it wasn't until the severity of damages to both our homes that we witnessed firsthand Chuck's "inner" character.  Unlike several of our fair weather shore neighbors, Chuck offered immediate help and seemed to fully understand the complexity, stress, and difficulty of our situation.  He secured our home and volunteered to house quite a few of our valuables at his house while we wrestled with our insurance companies for both homes.  At that point there was really nothing of a vested interest for Chuck beyond the very remote prospect of future renovation.  We don't believe that mattered so much to Chuck.  He simply extended himself to help us out during the most difficult time in our life. 
It took 2 years for us to resolve our shore home situation with our insurance company, with the end result being the home had to be demolished. Over those 2 years Chuck provided us with extremely detailed cost estimates for repair.  He did so in good faith, and the cost proposals were always timely, professional and thorough.  When it came time to demolish the home, we again called upon Chuck, and again he completed the job in a timely, cost-efficient and professional manner.
We can't say enough about Chuck Patterson.  We believe he's a genuinely sincere, honorable man with considerable expertise in his field.  For us he was a top-flight professional.  Finding a trustworthy and capable carpenter or contractor is no easy task.  But Chuck knows how to conduct business, and our experiences over the past two years strongly suggest that people like Chuck Patterson are hard to find.
