Payless Roofing, Windows & More (Payless) was contracted to address roof leaks on the right side of the house. The left side of the house was not leaking at that time.
Ed indicated the problem on the right side was due to improper flashing. Since the 12 year old house is symmetrical, I asked Ed if the other side, which wasn?t leaking, should be corrected now as well. Ed said it was likely the builder made the same flashing mistake on both sides and suggested remediation on both.
Payless was then contracted to remove shingles under both eaves, apply new rubber and aluminum flashing, and new 30 year shingles. The work performed did not address the leaks as agreed and contracted. Additionally, upon conclusion of this work, new leaks on the left side of the house were created. Ed attempted unsuccessfully to resolve the issue and stopped calling me back in November ?2013.
The house leaked from mid-October ?2013 until mid-January ?2014 when I contracted another roofer to repair the original leak in addition to the leaks that Ed caused.
The 2nd roofer removed all of the roofing materials that Ed applied, properly installed the flashing and new roofing material, and corrected the issue.
Ed finally answered my call on April 29th, 2014 and indicated the reason he didn?t call me back was because he had a ?bad winter?. I informed him of the situation and asked for a full refund; he refused.
Ultimately, he is not liable to refund any of my money or to compensate me for any of the $4,335 in damages from leaks that he caused because he did not guarantee the work. His attorney suggested he add this to his contracts. Now I know why.
The 2nd roofer did supply a guarantee and fixed the leaks Payless caused.
