It went beautifully. Four of the red oaks are quite close to our front door and created a canopy of almost full shade, so much so that other plantings were dying for lack of light. One man climbed the trees and belayed from one to another raising the canopy and removing dead wood while another in a cherry picker did the same on trees closer to the driveway and street. In all, there were about 8 men working through the day. Another red oak alongside the house had a particularly hefty limb that extended over the house. They used the cherry picker to take it off in sections. After work had begun, I realized there was another small tree that had grown right next to our retaining wall. They agreed to take it down with no additional charge because stump grinding was not necessary. All debris was ground into chips and they did a complete clean-up. They began work around 10:45 am and left at about 5:30 pm. I would hire them again without question.

Excellent. The company that refused the job because of the poison ivy recommended Adirondack, saying it has one of the largest cranes in the area. Adirondack used its huge crane to reach over my house to the backyard to reach the tree. As they cut each limb--and eventually the trunk--the crane carried the pieces OVER my house. If that sounds like a recipe for nervous pacing and indigestion, it was. Yet, I agreed to this approach because I had high confidence in Adirondack from my first phone call with the owner, Bill Barlow. He gave me his cell number, answered his cell most of the time and if not, he returned my call very quickly. He gave me an estimate within 24 hours. Bill worked with me on the timing of the tree-cutting. They showed up on time. They did the job safely and efficiently, and as promised. There was saw dust everywhere, but when they left, they had cleaned up so immaculately that you'd have no idea any work was done at my house that day. Adirondack was one of the most expensive of 8 companies I contacted, but I knew from my conversations with Bill that I was willing to pay more to have responsiveness (two of the companies I called kept saying they'd go to my house to give me a quote but never did) and the gut feeling that Adirondack was a quality operation that would keep my house (and my neighbors' houses) safe. Bill also provided copies of insurance documents, and volunteered to put my neighbors on the documents too since his crane would be parked in their yard.

The main problem was a large, hard to reach tree that had a big, rotted hole in the middle which made climbing too dangerous. Only two other tree services were even interested. One would charge over $5k for an industrial crane from the road, and the other wanted to pull down our fence in order to get close enough with their crane.  Adirondack said they had their own 120 foot crane and could get to it from the neighbor's yard (whose house was in danger from the tree).  They did exactly that and only had to cut down a small pine to get close enough.  These guys were very, very good.  And since they owned their own cranes, chippers, etc., their costs were reasonable.

Our tree was damaged in a snow storm right before Thanksgiving and split in half.  I called Adirondack on Saturday.  They came out on Saturday and gave me an estimate in a matter of hours.  I scheduled them for Monday.  They were punctual and professional.   Their price was more than fair considering another tree service wanted to charge me three times what Adirondack charged.  I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The job was delayed one day because of bad weather which was fine with us.  They operated in a very tight space and had to use a crane to transport the large pieces over the house to the roadway.  They cleaned up very well and had sufficient workers to accomplish the task.  They worked quickly and efficiently.  They were responsive to any concerns we had.

SHE CONTACTED BILL BARLOW,  HE CAME TO HER HOME AND SURVEYED THE SITUATION.  HE LISTENED TO HER AS SHE DESCRIBED WHAT SHE NEEDED DONE.   THERE WERE QUITE A FEW TREES WHICH HUNG CLOSE TO HER HOUSE AND NEEDED REMOVAL SO AS TO PREVENT ANY DAMAGE SHOULD SEVERE WINDS OCCUR.  HE MADE NOTE OF HER REQUEST AND GAVE HER THE ESTIMATE.  THERE WERE ALSO A NUMBER OF SMALLER TREES WHICH LEANED TOWARD THE NEIGHBORS HOUSE, ONE OF WHICH HAD FALLEN AND CAUSED SOME DAMAGE TO THEIR HOME SEVERAL YEARS BEFORE.
A TEAM OF 5 MEN ARRIVED AT HER HOME THAT THURSDAY MORNING AND STARTED THE JOB.  HOWEVER, IT STARTED TO RAIN SO THE WORK WAS POSTPONED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY.  I HAD TO STAY AT HER HOME AS SHE COULD NOT TAKE ANOTHER DAY OFF FROM WORK AND SO I WATCHED AS THEY WORKED.  I WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZED AT THE PRECISION OF THIS TEAM.  NOT ONLY DID THEY COMPLETE THE JOB BUT CLEANED UP THE YARD SO BEAUTIFULLY THAT ONE WOULD NEVER KNOW SOMEONE HAD WORKED THERE.  EVERYTHING WAS REMOVED - BRANCHES WERE PICKED UP - THE YARD WAS RAKED AND THE DRIVEWAY SWEPT CLEAN.
WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND ADIRONDACK TREE SERVICES TO ALL.

The work went smoothly and they did a good job.
I wouldn't use them again because we needed a lot of work done after 'Sandy' hit and their estimate was quite a bit higher than North Jersey Tree Specialists.

During a recent wind storm a tree blew down onto my house. It caused no damage but was leaning in such a way if it fell it would cause alot of damage. I called several tree services one of which was Adirondack Tree Services. The price quoted by each was basicly the same the only difference was Adirondack could do the job earlier. I was glad I chose them , they showed up early in the morning first thing and got to work quickly. They were very professional and did the job without any problems . They removed the tree in sections to prevent damage to the house and ground down the stump .They then ground down another stump we had near the first tree. Overall I was very happy with the service.

Bill Barlow & his crew have worked for me quite a few times.  Bill is a punctual, experienced, genial man.  His crew has worked for him for many years; they are not seasonal employees.  Unfortunately, I have property with huge Oaks and Paper Birches.  Recently I had to take down 4 trees because of a Carpenter Ant infestation.  They had eaten out the core of the trees &, had they fallen they would have caused much damage.  Bill's crew took all 4 trees down in one day (1 had one trunk but 3 sections to it) and even came back the next day to do more cleanup.  Shortly after that, a storm broke off the top of a 40 to 50 ft. tree close to the house & left it leaning on the roof.  I had to take the whole tree down.  Both times Bill's crew did an efficient, safe, neat job.  Don't think that you will get a bargain here because taking down trees is expensive.  However, their prices are realistic and they do not gouge you.  Also, you do get what you pay for with Adirondack.

Everything went smooth as glass. The team worked well together. They showed up on time. Worked very hard and did a great job. They have everything you need to get a large job done and their team has the skill to drop a tree in very close proximity to the house without any problems at all. They even used a crane to remove some larger trees. Overall great job and very happy to recommend them in the future.

I've used Adirondack many times and they have always done a fabulous job. I met with Bill on a Wednesday to go over the work that needed to be done; he gave me an estimnate and I told him to go ahead with the work; he had his crew there Saturday morning. They were done in less than an hour, removed all the branches that they took down and swept the area of any remaining wood chips. Very professional crew. Would definitely call them anytime I need tree service.

We had an emergency situation on 10/7/10. During a high wind a 50-60 foot maple tree split vertically up the trunk. There was a real danger the tree would topple over on to the garage or the house. We called Bill (the owner) and with in 10 minutes he was over to access the problem. It was critical as the gusty winds could topple the tree at any time. With in the hour Bill had a crane and a crew on site and cut down the tree. The work was expertly and safely performed. All debris was removed and the yard cleanup after completion was immaculate. This was our third time utilizing Adirondack, each experience has been great. We will continue to use their services. Thank you Adirondack.
