Annandale NJ It is not often that I take the time to write a review for services rendered except for when the experience is positive and worthy of accolades. The exceptional work recently completed, on 4/17/2019 by J and A Home Remodeling, installing new windows for our home rises to that occasion. Through the years my wife and I have owned and renovated several homes dealing with a variety of contractors whose customer service satisfaction was as varied as the work needed. Now retired and on fixed incomes, the importance of being assured of receiving value for our dollars had become paramount and with Owner/Operator Joe Markey that goal was achieved. Our first introduction to Joes work came from a business associate who recommended him highly for some interior painting that was needed. Joe showed flexibility with scheduling out of concern for our needs and performed the service both timely and with close attention to detail. An offhand comment regarding a desire to have our windows replaced for the past few years led to Joe apprising us as to the depth of services he renders, and within 48 hours we had been shown a sample of the windows, provided pricing info, detailed spec information as to quality, warranty coverage, the installation process, scheduling needs/accommodations, and commitment to personally perform the work. Within the time frame of barely one and a half days, I witnessed Joe, with assistance from an equally competent technician Ed, personally change 16 windows from start to finish. The proficiency with which they worked as a team was amazing to observe. The removal, replacement, insulating, caulking, and exterior aluminum wrapping/embellishments were performed without any interior or exterior mess that we had to concern ourselves with. The final look significantly enhanced the street appeal of our house and was everything we were expecting. The noise reduction, ease of cleaning, and energy saving aspects will be paying dividends for years to come. Joe Markeys J and A Home Remodeling has proven itself to be a reliable, professionally operated, and competitively priced company driven by a desire to leave its customers satisfied, and that mission was accomplished. We would have no hesitation to hire J and A for our rear deck and patio that the wife is now throwing hints about. The personalized touch that Joe Markey offers is a refreshing change from the larger franchised firms out there.

My job wasn’t a huge remodel and many others weren’t even interested in coming to look at it because it was a small job to them. But to me it was a big issue and getting the shower door fixed is a big stress relieved. They spent time assessing the problem and offered several solutions. Their persistence in finding a fix to a very old shower door is greatly appreciated and In the end I am very happy with the repair

Fast, quality, affordable, professional.

The work was done well. But didn't like the fact that they accuse me of touching the spackling job they did. Also I felt that they did the job as fill in. They would come over later then 6pm. They need to work on communication and customer relations.

We needed fascia boards replaced on our two-story log home. Many of the boards were inaccessible without bringing in a cherry-picker. We used Boral brand TruExterior® Siding & Trim which was expensive but rot-resistant and, I hope, resistant to carpenter bees. At Joe's suggestion, to save money we pre-painted the boards ourselves. The work was excellent. Joe and his partner personally did the job plus a helper. They were very professional, promptly showed up when promised, worked a long day. Joe was very responsive and gave us a written quote the same day he came to do the estimate. They did a good clean-up. We thought they were a bit expensive but their work was top-notch. We would be happy to hire them again.

Joe was incredibly quick to respond to my inquiry to fix the steps from my laundry room into my garage. He gave me a very fair quote and was able to schedule the work the next day. He and his partner Joe built custom steps that were exactly what I wanted.

J&A built a deck for us with a lattice wall underneath. The deck was generally well done. The lattice was a disaster. After a year, I am re building it myself due to the poor quality of the original lattice wall. Joe came to look at the lattice but never followed through on repair. J&A also installed a new sliding glass door. That was well done, but the screen door does not work properly. Joe came to look at the problem, but never fixed it. His follow through is problematic, if something goes wrong..

I have hired J & A Home remodeling for 2 projects. Last spring they did some repair work around the garage as well as installing a sliding glass door in the dining room. Just this month they came to work on the laundry room: new ceramic tile, repair and paint dry wall, install a new laundry sink. They also had to remove they washer and dryer and then reinstall them. Also, I knew there were some roofing issues that needed attention and while they were here they managed to take care of those repairs as well. On both occasions I can say that Joe and his crew were polite, knew their jobs and left the areas clean. I am very pleased with the final results, and would recommend them to anyone.

Joe does great work, is thorough and mindful of his customer's needs. He mended a door jamb and fixed a couple of other doors that weren't closing properly. Everything looks and works great; he even saved me a few bucks by using our existing materials. I'd hire him again in a heart beat!

J&A was very responsive to an urgent request to have a new wooden porch installed. The quote was fair and they started a day early. The project was done in one day and completely met our needs regarding quality, timing and cost. I would call J&A again for any deck/porch work.

Joe worked with me to establish a manageable schedule for the work. He worked with me on the two reschedules I needed because of long work hours and department visitors. He even shopped for my faucet which was a very valuable service since I had no time to do it myself. He did a great job, finished in good time and made sure I was happy with the work before he left. He also saved me some money by repairing part of my backsplash rather than recommending a new one. I appreciated that he did not pressure me to purchase a much more expensive alternative when a modest repair sufficed. I would definitely hire him again.

We had all new windows installed in our house, also the front storm door, and they look fabulous! Joe and his crew did a great job, very neat & professional. We would definitely use J&A again.

What a great job was done. They had to tear down and rebuild my poorly built deck and they did it in the 100 degree weather. They cleaned up all the debris. I now have a beautiful sturdy deck with great features. If I have another remodeling job to be done, I would hire them again.

Very pleased with deck repair job just completed. Have already rehired for some siding repair work. Happy to have found J&A through HomeAdvisors.

Never completed work. Never did all the work he said he would have to do to fix problem but did not reduce fee. I would call once a week and he would laugh and say ' i will be there next week". After doing a terrible gutter screening he announced i would need new gutters very soon. Why would i invest all the money into gutters that would need to be replaced in a few months? He never intended to finish job at all. Took advantage of a elderly sick woman.

They were very curteous, on time, professional, neat, and finished quickly without any surprises or problems. Extremely pleased with the completed project.
