Although I had no problems using Vector Security for my home security system for several years, I have not had good experience with them for my commercial business. They installed a wireless system that is not adequate for this property (it is barely strong enough to handle the size of the building). Just today we received yet another "low battery" phone call. What this means is that the sensors' batteries are low and they need to come out and replace the battery.
Over the past 7 years or so I have spent well over two thousand dollars with their monitoring and alarm maintenance program (batteries are not covered, only the service fee).
We once had a problem with the main panel and the repair guy came in and told us that someone here had damaged the inside of our unit. We only had three employees at the time and none of them are knowledgeable enough to come in and damage this intricate portion of the alarm system and no reason to anyway. Then he said that maybe someone broke in and damaged the unit. However, he had no explanation for why someone would take the trouble to break into the building, carelfully damage or disable an inside circuit board of the alarm, but then steal nothing. When we reviewed the overnight security video - there was nobody on the video. Just plain weird. I think the portion of the unit was defective myself.
The sensor farthest from the main panel has trouble communicating with the main unit so another guy came in and installed a repeater unit. AFTER it was installed he then told us the cost of the unit. At least they are letting me pay that down. I get a live person when I call service about 1/3 of the time during regular hours.
We spend too much time on the phone with them for low battery or sensor problems. The alarm system is too much trouble for us, but it is better than nothing. I wish I had purchased a different system or a different company.
If I do decide to switch to a hard-wired system, I doubt I will use Vector.
They were fine. They seemed knowledgeable about their product.
